Alot of people on here talk about how illegal immigration is an issue, I agree. Lots of people slam what is in place now, so how do we solve the issue? Keeping in mind in America we normally don't stand at the border and shot people who come across, so that would not be an option. How do we improve on what is in place or do we get rid of what is in place and do something else?
Ughhh, how many times are we going to go over this?
The only real solution is Mexico starts spending money on it's citizens and stop being a third world country.
Yes, that would be the optimal solution but since it has not happened and obviously it is not going to, what is the solution? Keeping in mind that it is not only Mexico that illegals are coming from and expecting another country to do something for us is illogical.
And we keep going over this because everyone wants to bi**ch about what is not working but noone offers a viable solution.

I applaud you for even asking the question. I believe you represent most Americans that ask...How do we solve a problem?
1) In solving any problem, prioitizing solutions is important. Not only what should be done, but what in reality is feasible, logical, pracitcal, legal, and fundable.
2) there needs to consensus on data/information...it has to be credible. In order to solve any problem, credible information is needed to make decisions...whether the informantion is pro or con. To dig heels in on either side does, not allow for informed decisions or compromise if needed.
3) Superfluous bulls!th on either side has nothing to do with real immigration reform.
1. There should be no more talk of amnesties, no more promises to move those who have no respect for our laws to the front of the line.
2. Illegals should not be able to benefit from food stamps, Medicaid, government provided housing. Illegal parents of anchor babies should not be allowed to receive WIC, food stamps and should be sent a hospital bill.
3. Employers of illegals should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
4. Something more has to be done about illegals after they make it a few feet over the border. As it is now, there are good border agents but some corrupt ones and as long as the rewards are so great for illegals, they will continue to pour over the border. There isn't much of a border, there is a short fence that can be easily cut, dug under, climbed over or walked around. If they aren't apprehended actually crossing over, that's where it stops. More needs to be done to those illegals as they make their presence known.
5. People also have to realize there are two ways for illegals to "improve themselves" as they say when excusing themselves for breaking the laws of this country. Most come from countries with growing middle classes HOWEVER improving themselves there would require responsibility and self-control, motivation to finish school, work for reforms. As long as these people see the USA as the easy way out of whatever problems they have, they'll continue to come on over. The USA is easy, they don't have to finish school, they can continue to have children they cannot afford, they don't have to improve themselves.
No anchors. No amnesty. No welfare. Enforcement of labor laws. Prosecution of an employer or employee violating those laws. No translation provided to anyone in Spanish. A skills based checklist to immigrate here. Penalties on Mexican officials who refuse to enforce borders.
Other countries enforce their laws and keep their borders. We should as well.
I am not going to answer this question over and over. Why do people come in here and keep asking it when there are already numerous topics about it already? I find those that do are usually advocates for illegal aliens (while claiming they are not) and just want to shoot holes in your solutions saying they won't work, blah, blah, blah and want you to just give in and agree with them that the only viable solution is to give them amnesty/CIR. We have been down this road so many times in here that I won't participate in this agenda driven leading questions anymore.

Agree with all of your points.
Doesn't the skills checklist already apply to legal immigrants?
