I had to shake my head in disbelief, when I watched the news story last night.
Mexico is opposing the building of the fence/ wall/ border, citing environmental issues and reasons!!!
Are they for real????
This is getting better and better...now Mexico is actually TELLING the US, it would NOT be in the best interest to build anything, because of the environmental landscape we both (US and Mexico) share!
It was clear, that they aim for OPEN borders....period.... and trying to justify it now with the utmost idiotic statements and reasons.
The US news reported, that Mexico is "pulling" the "green card", trying to make the US look bad to the world, since most countries are trying very hard to support the ecosystems, trying to preserve nature and the environment, trying to protect....

Which is a good thing and it's about time, I might add.

But.....at the end of THIS story, and the way the agenda is used.......... I just had to start laughing......

Did anybody else watch it?
Am I missing something here?
What did you think?

This isnt going to help their cause. It complete lack of any respect for America is astounding. If they really cared about the environment they would be more worried about the garbage the illegals strew around when they run over the border. This makes me want the fence even more. And some wonder why we have issues with them.

In a related story, radical Muslims prefer that the U.S. not kill any more terrorists. Thank God we have so many benevolent neighbors willing to dole out quality advice.

This is kind of funny. First they hand out pamphlets on how to get into America illegally without getting caught... best routes, best things to bring, etc.. now they are trying to make America look bad by using the "environment."

Bottom line is, Mexico wants the money that the illegals send to their families.

There’s another thread about this titled STOP BUILDING THE FENCE!!...insects may be disturbed, started by JD.

I’m a tree-hugger and environmental issues concern me greatly. However, in this case the stakes are so high regarding the future of America that it is not a dilemma for me. The border must be sealed! We can figure out what to do about the environmental damage after it’s done. IF there are ways to incorporate environmental protections that do not delay the process, then I’m all for it. But sealing the border should be top priority, in my humble opinion.

I don’t believe for a minute that the masses in Mexico care about environmental issues. As more and more people are waking up to environmental degradation in America, and it becomes an ever more important issue—FINALLY!—an unfortunate negative outcome of the change in attitudes is that environmental issues will be used nefariously by groups that neither care about the environment to any significant degree, nor have any qualms about being utterly dishonest in using the subject for ulterior gain; this border/environment development is a prime example.

Default I just found the report disgusting....

Because, the world as a whole is trying greatly, to spread the word, and stress the importance of protecting our environment.
Now Mexico jumped on the "bandwagon", and using it under false pretence...so it seems.
The Mexican politicians/ government releasing the statement yesterday, basically pointing the finger at the US (bad, bad USA....making it sound like we don't give a rat's A** about anything! )
No word, however, on how bad the situation is for the US environment, being depleted by being "plowed over" by so many illegals, we and the US ecosystem simply can't support.

This is the problem with being such an open country, it will come back and bite you in the rear.

Agreed. Not much talk yet from environmental groups about the negative effects of a dramatic increase in population or the lack of respect for the environment by those who are flooding in. I've written quite a few letters lately to environmental groups but no responses yet. I think the problem is in the emotional difficulty in reconciling a desire to keep people out who will damage America with concerns about the poor in Mexico. I can understand the struggle in this reconciliation.

But it’s time for tough love. Actually, it’s far past time for tough love. Mexico has to clean up its own act. We’re in the process of cleaning up our own. How many fronts can we fight at once and do good service to all?

I think it is time we stop sacrificing ourselves for others, their countries need to be held accountable for the needs of their people.
