The investigation eventually led to Juan Manuel Barrientos Lopez, 29, a Mexican national reportedly in the U.S. illegally who authorities believe called the shots in the gun trafficking ring. Agents arrested him following a high-speed chase in October 2010. (http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/news/trafficking-129269-weapons-eight.html - broken link)
These are weapons used in the military.

Seems like only one of the eight was in the US illegally.

I am, however, relieved to know that "real americans" (except for the other seven people mentioned in this story) never get involved in shady dealings like this.

Oh, and these are NOT weapons used by the US military.

Cliffnotes: cool story, bro, but I suspect Chicagonut and her "THIS DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION" topic police will be by here soon to kick you around.

Seven more illegal aliens get to rub elbows with their 55,000 countrymen in American jails...

And the cost of having these illegal aliens in our prisons is outrageous.....

Quote:
How much does it cost states to house these criminals? Says the GAO,
We estimated that selected operating costs (i.e., correctional officer salaries, medical care, food service, and utilities) associated with incarcerating criminal aliens in our nation’s state prison systems totaled $7 billion from fiscal year 2003 through fiscal year 2009. These costs ranged from about $736 million in 2003 to $1.1 billion in 2009, about a 56 percent increase.

A corresponding increase in the illegal alien population in state prisons was revealed, as well. The number increased by 75,000 to an astounding total of nearly 300,000
