Immigrant rights advocates and the New York Civil Liberties Union on Wednesday accused the Border Patrol in upstate New York of abusing its authority by questioning the citizenship of train and bus passengers, as well as people going about their business in towns miles away from any international crossing. Ok so what should we do at the airports? Not question anyone entering or leaving the country?
this is an extension of the government policy to make it easier for illegal immigrants to come here.
I wonder what would be the possibility of making it so police had no right to ask for license and registration of us LEGAL CITIZENS when we are stopped for a traffice violation or a traffic check? Probably not too good I'm guessing.
If the BP was authorized to do this and I am sure they were and for good reasons why the objection? We all know the answer to that one. These so-called immigrants rights groups in cohoots with the despicable ACLU just want to protect illegal aliens from detection. Citizens with a valid I.D. would not get arrested unless a mistake was made and that is rare. What is the difference between being asked for I.D. during a traffic stop, making purchases on a credit card and boarding planes, trains or any other form of public transportation? The only ones whining and turning this into a civil rights issue are the above two anti-American groups and other pro-illegal sympathizers. I for one am sick of it!
I don't see why they would be doing it in places miles away from border checkpoints, but NYC is a rather large port of entry for people coming into the US on business, pleasure, or people that are moving. With that said, I can understand why there would be USBP agents in NY.
Also.. Upstate NY is right across the way from Canada, and the Canadian border (in a lot of places) is probably a lot more porous than our southern border with Mexico. At least, I believe BP probably has a far larger presence down here.
It isn't that porous; I live here. Any sane person who is a NY occupant and US citizen gets the enhanced ID or license -- you can go to Canada and come back ( driving) w/out a passport. Illegals can't get the enhanced -- I had to have my U.S. birth cert., U.S. passport, marriage license (its a name thing for women), already issued NY license / ID and several bills in my name with my address. Worse than getting my passport!! Reasons my husband and I got it? Who knows when we feel like crossing and we don't just carry passports.

If our nothern border was more porous than our southern one then wouldn't we have more illegals coming through that one rather than our northern one? Just saying.

How many border patrol agents do you see getting murdered at our northern border?
We get van fulls of Illegals going across the USA, all the time. They go to places where they can become day laborers, and get jobs. Ohio and West Virginia has been finding van full for awhile now and calling in ICE, and who knows what becomes of them, after that... They just get let go and told to come back when its time for Court and never show up, sheesh!!
Soon as they outlaw Anchor Babies, a lot of this will stop at the Border...

True, and a lot of that has to do with the drug cartels. Most of the drugs coming into our country are from our southern border not our northern one.
