85-year-old migrant smuggler gets 2½ years prison - Yahoo! News

Leads a "very well-organized, safely run operation" and has been here since at least 1982, then claims to not speak English.

What say you of this elderly smuggler of illegals?

Gurrola was indicted on immigrant smuggling charges in 1982 but never arrested, according to an affidavit filed with a criminal complaint. She allegedly boasted on a wiretap that she had been in the business for more than 40 years.

They made a choice to play in the big league and broke the law
Make an example of them, it's the attention they are screaming for
with that type of defense

Has anybody not noticed that it is always their own ethnicity creating the forged documents, hiring them, getting them across the border undetected, harboring them, enslaving them, exploiting them, etc.
Quote:
She met migrants at Tijuana's Suites Royal Hotel where she gave them immigration documents belonging to others and told them to memorize the information. An underling knew how to read codes on the documents to determine information such as whether they were new issues or renewals. In the morning, migrants had their hair done to resemble the person on the immigration documents, said Johnny Martin, an ICE supervisory special agent. Gurrola lined them up and assumed the role of immigration inspector. She berated them when they fumbled for answers.
Guides then led migrants through the San Ysidro border crossing, joined them on a commercial bus to the Los Angeles area and collected $3,500 per person on arrival, investigators said. The guides returned to the border in time for dinner.

Good. If anyone feels bad for her because of her age, remember that she's been doing this for over 40 years. Would you feel bad if someone in their 40's received this sentence?

To be honest, she probably deserved quite a bit more time. Up to 80 people every month?

Yes, I don't see why length of criminal career should get this criminal off with only 2 years.

Glad she will be serving time, but the length, i have a problem with. She should be doing much more, give her 40 years, lol i know would never happen, but what an example would be set.
