Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) introduced H.R. 477, which would eliminate the extended family visa categories (married sons and daughters of citizens, etc.), thus ending chain migration.
H.R. 477 would reduce the annual issuance of family-sponsored visas by more than 100,000.

More great news. Now if we can just get these bills through congress. I was always opposed to all this family chaiin migration.
This is a very important piece of legislation that needs to get passed. Both sides of the aisle need to vote yes on this if they are serious about controlling illegal immigration. Next birthright citizenship needs to be addressed and then we will finally be on our way of truly curbing illegal immigration.
Seems to me that if apprehensions are up then the attempts to enter illegally are up. Yet we are told that illegal immigration in the past year is near zero or way down. These stats blow those assertions out of the water, don't they?
No, around here I've heard a response both ways:
Apprehensions are up, more are attempting and also getting through...
Apprehensions are down, less are getting caught...
Mexican immigration is believed to be net zero currently, more are leaving and being deported than those arriving...

Would you mind explaining what you are referring to by "Mexican immigration?" Do you mean Mexican illegal aliens, or Mexicans here legally on visas? And, if illegal aliens, why on earth would they choose to leave at a time when legalization and a path to citizenship is being promised by both Obama and our pandering Congress? That defies logic. If anything, more are trying to come to take advantage of this generous amnesty gift.

As defined by Pew for the data I would quote (Net Migration from Mexico Falls to Zero), "Mexican immigration" is both legal and illegal combined (and being reported as specific to Mexico). Very informative and detailed, but long for those that don't want to read or analyze that much. Along with the slide presentation source I used for the other topic, if we debate the voluminous material it will need a reference to which page or slide.
As well as being more focused on actually following a topic, without unrelated posts thrown haphazardly among the threads by certain members...

Again, why would any Mexican illegal alien leave now, rather than remaining here for legalization and a path to citizenship? Does Pew offer an explanation for such bizarre behavior?

You said the report is lengthy. So, would you mind sharing their explanation? Again, it makes no sense whatsoever.
