Yesterday, Congress repeated that 6.9 million illegals (probably not 6.9%?) in the U.S. are working..not very many, maybe someone knows which figure is correct? Many seem to get by living off welfare for their children and they claim their boyfriend or the father is not around, when they are.

The source is The House of Representatives, Congress, which is covered on C-SPAN every day and most of the day. It's good they televise The House activities daily.

I typed it into google, and didn't receive any hits.

I'm glad you modified your OP, that addition of 6.9 million working really changes the emphasis.

Who stated this? I'll go to the member's website and pull it up myself.

Yes, a big difference. It was Steve King, Congressman from Iowa. They were discussing the failed 'dream act'.

The illegals are working (mostly the men) and the women have children, collect welfare and do claim that the father is not around. It's a reality as there are several immigrants here in TX that do it and have stated it in fact. They have cash flow from the husband which does not have to go for food; health insurance; medical care.

I sure wish I could sit at home and have my husband's full paycheck not have to go to pay for health insurance premiums and food!

The sad thing is it is not just illegals that are saying they don't know who the father is to get welfare assistance. When the father is around.

Thanks for this link! With 20 to 35? million illegals here it's amazing that only 6.9 million are working. With 69 million Americans not working we won't have to worry about jobs unfilled when illegals are deported. So, WHAT are the majority of illegals doing to make money here??!
