And as long as the unemployment handouts are being extended for many years, and it's become so easy for unemployed Americans to get on disability handouts, many people really do not care -- why work if you can live very comfortably by never working?

The problem is -- how sustainable is it to have millions of Americans always heading to the disability offices to be taken care of the rest of their lives after their years of unemployment handouts have run out and keep on bringing in the most uneducated and unskilled that other nations want to rid themselves of?

Sure many illegals will work and will work very cheaply at least until they start having babies that bring them government handouts or win themselves yet another amnesty and can join the lazy Americans, but we need Americans to start working and paying taxes.

The ONLY reason so many don't care about 11 to 30 million new cheap workers being added to the legal labor pool with such high unemployment is that they figure the government (ie taxpayers) will keep on providing those who don't work a comfortable living for the rest of their days.

Lots of people think it is not a big deal but once the amnesty happens and we are flooded with a huge wave of unskilled and uneducated third world immigrants and they destroy our economy, people will understand this is perhaps the biggest issue facing America.

Well the 11-20 million are already here.

I do think it will become a huge financial burden once they become legal.
The Senate bill only bars them from applying for 5 means tested welfare programs.
We have 83 means tested welfare programs which means the other 78 are fair game.

The bill also increases all the types of work visas for both high skilled and low skilled workers.
These foreign visa workers are exempt from Obamacare and employers don't have to pay the Fed portion of taxes.

Yes, they are, doing all those low paying jobs Americans don't want to do and often for pay so low it's not legal. Once they are given their reward of legal status, they cannot work many of those jobs because the pay is illegal, they will be dumped into the legal labor pool and start grabbing up all those better paying jobs Americans do want.

That means the very high rate of unemployment for youth, particularly black youth will be made much worse with up to 30 million newly legalized cheap foreign labor being added to the competition.

No one believes the amnestied illegals will continue to work in farm work -- why would they when all those fantastic jobs Americans and legal immigrants do are out there?

What jobs are illegals doing that Americans won't do sans crop picking? Some of those jobs are entry level jobs for our American youth.

Of course they do. you have to understand the media and politicians relationships. its a you scratch my back; I scratch yours. Media needs sources and politicians need access to media. This goes to aid and beyond now days in Washington. Without this source relationship you go no where in Washington.

Same as with the housing industry........today they say home prices rose 11%, next week we will be told that the industry is tanking. I love Yahoo news messages and typically 95% of the commenters do not want amnesty. Are the Pro Amnesty and La Raza groups flooding our politicians while the sheep once again lay down?

the immigration debate is like the gun control debate. The people who support gun control and legal immigration just aren't as passionate or intense about it as those who oppose it. Negativity and hate just breeds more passion about a topic.

I don't associate being opposed to illegal immigration and amnesty as being akin to negativity and hate. Our country's future is at stake here.
