My hat's off to the immigration officials. It sounds like they had a tip and just followed it up. They should have seized any cash or other assets he had on him though.
She should have been arrested along with him, for harboring a criminal. I thought this part said a lot: "I am a U.S. citizen and truly appalled that some people can be so narrow-minded about the situations that families are put into when husbands who are the sole financial contributor for the family are ripped away, solely because they were victims of racial profiling." What situations is she talking about? Oh yeah, the situation where she will have to get a job now. Poor thing. They'll probably sue based on racial profiling.

I thought that maybe you would like to see a portrait of the father of Mexico, Mexico's George Washington, he started the war for independence, he was a deeply spiritual man and the first Mexican patriot, a true hero indeed.

Controls are a total system. The are not just external (controlling entry into and enforcing deportation from the country). They are also internal (linking welfare entitlements to immigration status). Welfare and the welfare state are themselves supremely nationalistic as they are premised on immigration controls. It is no coincidence that the flowering of welfare provision (post 1905 and post 1960) coincided with the enactment of the two major waves of immigration control — the 1905 Aliens Act against Jewish refugees and the 1962 Commonwealth Immigrants Act against black entrants. And now controls are hardening at an ever-increasing rate.
As well as being racist, controls are also inherently authoritarian. They can never be “fair” to those subject to them. As long as there are immigration laws, there will be people who fall foul of them and are crushed by them. Arguing that such destruction is “something we just have to live with” is to fall into another lethal category error. Those subject to control: are human beings not vegetables or inanimate objects.
Is it fair to criminalize a normal and natural human behavior?

Throughout the entire account, this worman never admits their blatant disrespect for our laws (his: entering this country illegally and hers: aiding and abetting) nor does she own the problem or apologize in any way.
