Why should U.S. taxpayers carry the burden of providing for illegal alien Mexicans?

Because we can; because we're a society burdened by guilt about a racist past, and this is a way to 'make things right'....because our own tradiitions demand we 'take people in'....because they're here....because it will make them 'like' us..because we're the richest country in the world, and they're the poorest...because, if the table were turned, they'd do the same thing for us....

If we didn't want 'immigrants', we should have said so, 200 years ago..right?

Yes, illegal aliens have certainly taken advantage of the ‘guilt’ factor. It’s sickening that so many U.S. citizens have allowed themselves to be so thoroughly manipulated.

As I've said repeatedly, it's an enormous and bitter ethnic battle, which just 'happens' to have a legal issue as its 'cover'. Take away the 'ethnic' factor, and the legal issue would be resolved in short order.

And we look forward to a 'multicultural future'?..where you support YOUR guy, and I support MY guy, and neither of us trusts "His Guy"? Sounds like FUN...the day may come (soon) when we see 'cultural disconnects' in our society which make the present 'illegal' issue look like a Tupperware party.....

The only guilt I feel is my inability to ferret out the illegal aliens; seize their assets then deport 'em all. As for their Anchor Babies: either they stay with friends/family here in the USA legally or they need to accompany their parents.

There is no one alive today who was responsible for slavery. Those responsible for the hatred and discrimination so prevalent in the past, have their own cross to bear (no pun intended). Fortunately, the hardcore racists are becoming the exception. We are only responsible for our behavior, not that of our ancestors. It’s time to bury both the race card, and guilt.

As you stated.

The election of Obama was the last glass ceiling for people of 'color' to shatter.

I don’t believe Obama’s presidency marked the end of racism or discrimination. Sadly, they will always exist on some level. However, it is certainly a glaring indication of the tremendous progress we have made. It can’t be denied.

There will always be some form of racism/discrimination----------look at the cultural/legal differences between Mexicans from Chiapas and Guatemalans. And, I am talking about the same ethnicity here--------Mayan Indian.
