Strong but not lethal, effective but not ugly: The U.S. is looking for a barrier along the border with Mexico that will say 'keep out' -- nicely.

A crew of U.S. Border Patrol agents, sweating under a hot Texas sun, squared off against an array of formidable-looking frontier fences.

They swung axes at posts, used blowtorches to melt steel, tore through sheet metal with crow bars and scaled walls with ladders.

A fence without offense - Los Angeles Times

Why worry about offending those who thumb their noses at our laws and sovereignty? There is always a double-standard when dealing with a corrupt cesspool like mexico.

Let me get this straight, they're researching to find a more politically correct fence?

Cost, durability and effectiveness should be the primary concerns when deciding on which type of fence is used. Steel on one side, concrete poles on the other and razor wire in the middle should be just about perfect. Trying to say, keep out nicely is bad policy. We need to emphasize security, not political correctness.

I don't think it's going to make a hill of beans. Take the jobs and housing away. That will make somewhat of an impact. But they are still going to keep coming. Enforce laws and send them back. Outposts. idk maybe a Jurassic Park Fence. Nah, they'll get thru.

So many people want a fence but nobody want to raise taxes to fund it. I wonder where the cuts for the fence are coming from- education maybe?

I wonder if force-field technology is developed enough == I mean when I was a kid in the 60s on Lost in Space they had one and it was only 1997.
