Sometimes, the media slips up and publishes a poll showing how low of a priority legalizing millions of illegals really is. See the bar graphs on the left hand side. "Immigration" (we all know what that word now means) is second from bottom, only ahead of the civil war in Syria.

Obama speech: Big new theme, some familiar content

Boy, after reading most mainstream media articles on immigration "reform," you'd guess that over 90% of Americans would be clamoring for Obama to address this issue and have a solution ASAP. I guess not!

I see they got rid of the bar graph Oooops! Some poor web content dude probably lost his job this morning LOL!

For those who blinked and missed it, MSN displayed the results of a poll in bar graph form. The poll had asked Americans to rank issues which were "extremely important" for Obama to address in the SOU address. I think there were around 10 issues. Only 20% felt it was extremely important to address "immigration" (i.e. amnesty), just barely ahead of the war in Syria, which most Americans are completely clueless about. In other words, the vast majority does not find the current situation of poor Mexicans living "in the shadows" intolerable and they aren't clamoring for the government to save them and grant amnesty like the media is trying desperately to brainwash you into believing.

Of course, the liberal media was all aglow and a little perplexed this morning about the limited and non-committal comments Obummer directed to the issue. That's because it ain't worth the backlash they know it will Really generate should they do it. Personally, I think it is an important issue -- which should be simply addressed by mandating e-verify and busting the living crap out of any employer who violates it with loss of business license and felony charges (sorry Repubs).

It's only important to the illegals themselves, their families, and their supporters who are small in number but plenty loud.

IMHO immigration is a HUGE priority. We need to slash the numbers of people immigrating here, overhaul our system to prohibit most types of family reunification visas (except for spouses and minor children), and kick out the illegals once and for all.

There's already a path to citizenship in place and it's called LEGAL IMMIGRATION. It's obvious the government can't round up millions of illegal immigrants and deport them. What brings immigrants to come here illegally? JOBS -low skill jobs that we don't have anymore thanks to technology. If the government enforced the hiring laws and rules already in place the illegal immigrants would leave on their own as opportunities would evaporate for them. Within a half year there would be a mass exodus of illegal immigrants out the door. This would be the quickest and least expensive way to REFORM IMMIGRATION.

I'd like to point out that while many people only focus on our southern border with Mexico the Asians are sneaking in through the side door.

-Cheers.

We need immigration enforcement not immigration reform. The president just needs to do his job of deporting the illegals. He nor any other party has the guts to do the job. American citizens are being cheated out of a protected environment.

How about a five year freeze on any new citizenship and deportation of the ones here illegally?
