If legal immigration is good, and illegal immigration is bad, why not just increase legal immigrations? Why not double it? Any takers?

Because in reality we need a moratorium on all immigration because we have too many here now that are not assimilating. But on top of all that, we need to only accept immigrants who can contribute to this country and not just take from it.

If stores have a problem with shoplifters, why not just declare all merchandise is henceforth FREE? Think of the savings in security costs, police calls, etc.. After all, shoplifters are really "kind of like" shoppers....they're just shoppers who "skip a step" in the shopping process.
There are LOTS of other ways to "streamline" the system, too, if anyone is interested;
(1) Rapists are REALLY just men with problems relating to the opposite sex, and who "won't take 'No' for an answer.....should we REALLY prosecute them?
(2) Carjackers are really just "very persuasive hitchikers"...is THAT so wrong?....
(3) Trespassers are just like "company" who shows up when you're not at home...big deal.
(4) Lots of people drink a lot---and lots of people drive. Why do we get so upset when they do it at the same time?...sheeesh!..And really, if you want to be honest, very few Drunk Drivers actually "Drink and Drive", anyway--most of them "Drink, and THEN Drive". Besides, MOST of them never actually 'hit' anyone anyway. Why not just repeal the silly DUI laws?....
There are LOTS of ways we could cut down on law-enforcement costs, if we wanted to...

Hmmm . . . what does "not assimilating" mean? Can you be specific? Also, if persons come to this country to work in jobs that Anglos (and other ethnic groups) do not want, such as agriculture, fast food, landscaping, etc., does that mean they are "not contributing"?

I, and a number of others, have written repeated and extensive posts on this. I suggest you look at some "former posts" on this forum. THey're all available if you're interested. This subject has been intensively covered, and you're just a little late. I have to warn you, though, that the term "anglo" will likely get you lots of criticism. (This was covered as recently as yesterday).
Perhaps others will "chime in", but I'm just about tapped out.
Take my word for it though---your post has been covered endlessly and repeatedly, and in minute detail.
Good luck!...

We need to stop illegal immigration and limit legal immigration. You live in Northern Virginia like i do. You should know exactly the problems non-assimlation breeds. See Seven Corners, Bailey's Crossroads, and Mt. Vernon Ave/W Glebe Rd in Alexandria if you want to find out.
We welcome immigrants of all backgrounds to our country provided that they are law-abiding, and seek to contribute something to our country rather than sucking up section 8 and foodstamps.

I see where you have served your country as a USMC Officer, as I served as a U.S. Army Officer...so your opinion has far greater value to me than most.
I agree with you wholeheartedly as America needs workers but we need to know who they are and don't need them sneaking across the border...thus increasing legal immigration limits may be the answer.

People who support an open border are also calling for a huge increase in legal immigration. Others say America lets in more legal immigrants than any other country.
Would you like the population of America to double in 50 years? Would you like America to be dominated by people who speak a different language? What impact would doubling of our population have on our environment and infrastructure?

If our population is going to grow, and it will regardless of who we allow in or allow to sneak in, why not have the option of selecting who they are? All the legal immigrants who came here during/after WWII learned English to some extent and their children all learned to speak English.
The first Americans spoke in a language that is now all but gone. Wonder how they think!

Although it is true that our population will grow (and that's only if birth rates keep up with death rates; in fact, it could go down), the amount that we allow it to grow is crucial. Too much burden on an already burdened infrastructure and a society that takes in too many people to assimilate at a normal rate is a recipe for failure. Grow? Yes, but grow out of control? No.
