They say that the public is more open to immigration, both legal and illegal, during times of economic booms but now that unemployment is going up and the economy is going down, many people will come to the realization that we do not need many new immigrants in America.
As the unemployment rate goes up, I can see the stories in the media of Americans losing their jobs while foreign labor keeps coming into our country taking the few jobs left at very low wages. I expect a growing backlash against all types of immigrants as the economy continues to crash.

Also much of the illegal immigration and cheap labor is the reason (besides huge greed) for the economic downslide.
The housing industry -- construction was the excuse given for bringing in truckloads of cheap-home builders to get housing subdivisions going up everywhere overnight.
But -- Americans are have not been reproducing at very high levels to justify all the home building so subprime loans had to be given to illegals and other low-wage workers so that the subdivision developers could get big money and keep building homes like crazy.
The real question is: Did we ever need illegal labor? The answer is no. If we have a labor shortfall that would drive the state department and immigration to open the door for more legal immigrants. What illegals do is cheat legal applicants out of their opprotunity to come here and have a better life.

two of my kids would do that job, my oldest is working his way through college looked for a job for four months, he did apply as a dishwasher!!!!! hell I worked in fields as a kid to earn money!!!! Just because you hear all this BS that we wont do the work doesn't make it even close to being true!!!!!!!!!
