MEXICO CITY - The Mexican government promised Friday to defend any Mexicans affected by an Arizona law that punishes employers who hire undocumented migrants.
The Arizona law, which went into effect Tuesday, prohibits businesses from knowingly employing illegal immigrants. Violators face business license suspensions for up to 10 days; a second offense triggers permanent revocation.
"Measures like the one approved in Arizona do not contribute to solving the issue of migration by workers between the two countries, and ignore the contributions that migrants make to the U.S. economy and society," Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said.
The department said it will "intervene, through its consulates, in any situation in which the rights of Mexican workers are affected, regardless of their immigration status."

Let an illegal immigrant in Mexico try that crap--------hypocrites.
Who gives a crap what they think, since when can they dictate how we defend our laws? Why does our government even listen to the people that treat their own like crap and then expect us to take them in!!! Personally I think all ties should be cut with Mexico. I am sick of their crap.
They need to concentrate on fixing Mexico, and making provisions for the return of their compadres. Enough of this nonsense!
Very true.
One of the perequisites (sp) for the poorer countries of 30 years ago (Ireland, Italy, Spain, etc) to qualify for European EC membership was that they had to get their collective economic, etc. houses in order first. Then, the above countries were rewarded.
Their position disregards our national sovereignty while raising the illegal alien to a new "protected worker" status that is not enjoyed by our own citizens.
The illegal immigration saga just gets crazier by the day!
I think Mexico is really scared. Think of all the revenue they are going to loose. I wonder what the percentage illegals send money home to Mexico, think about it.
If Mexico can send their people here, they don't have to worry about getting things straightened out there.

That's exactly it. The wealthy Mexicans are doing very very well with their corrupt system in place. They have no desire at all to change a system that keeps them rolling in the money -- but the only way to prevent reforms from being pushed through is to keep having their unwanted citizens leave.
Mexico is among the richest nations in the world, more billionaires than Great Britain or Saudi Arabia and the wealthiest man in the world is Mexican. Of course they don't want reforms being put into place because if there is any group of very rich people who really don't deserve their wealth, it's the wealthy Mexicans.
