Steve King (R-Iowa) introduced H.R. 140 last week that would end birthright citizenship for children born to two illegal-alien parents on U.S. soil. The bill is cosponsored by eight other Representatives.
According to Rep. King, the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2015 would end the practice of illegal aliens giving birth in the United States in order for their children to gain American citizenship.

Would that even be constitutional? If so....sounds reasonable.

Sure it would. There is nothing in the Constitution that grants babies of illegal aliens birthright citizenship. In fact it denies them that. Read the article. It's simply been a "practice" to do so.

As it stands right now there is almost nothing that would keep any Illegal from the entire world from slipping in, having their child born for free in our Hospitals and then be rewarded as a result of their illegal behavior. Same as someone who is here on vacation. If I'm on vacation in a foreign country I'm not expecting my kid to become a citizen of that country!

As most all modern countries are going away from our archaic instant citizenship sytem so should we. A child should be of the same citizenship as his parents, not where they happened to be delivered at

This is a waste of time. It isn't going to end up becoming actual legislation.

It will end up being used as a campaign issue in the general election, in all likelihood, though, but not by the GOP.

It's def constitutional IMHO since the US born kids of foreign diplomats DON'T get birthright and their parents are here legally. There's NO reason to allow the US born kinds of illegal alien parents to get birthright instead.

Let's hope that this bill gets some traction. Hopefully, other reps won't allow La Raza to bully and harass them into silence.

Pretty sure you'd need a constitutional amendment. not just a bill.

I believe this is correct. For many years this topic has come up in various forums and radio programs, and the consensus is that a change to the U.S. Constitution would be necessary to end birthright citizenship. King is just posturing, like that worthless derp Rand Paul and all that drone strike tripe.
