More than a few Central Florida contractors were checking payroll records and subcontractor relationships Tuesday after news broke about a local indictment regarding undocumented workers.

Federal agents arrested Orchidea Quezada at her Orlando home Saturday on charges that she provided cover for local contractors to use undocumented workers, and evade taxes.

Local contractors react to undocumented-worker indictment - Orlando Sentinel

Good and I HOPE the feds throw the book at you there, Quezada and your crooked kind.

She must not have sent her 'contribution' to the DNC.

I don't believe you have any idea (and honestly I'm not being condiscending) of how much of this actually goes on....?

Every single diner/restaurant....I've seen it with my own eyes....

They get paid cash....

It's common here. Restaurants? Good chance the dishwashers/table cleaners are paid cash and not legal. Contractors (and builders) here pick up day laborers to actually build homes, including high end homes. Why can they get away with it? Politicians. And in my neck of the woods they are not leftists/democrat politicians.

Woo hoo. Thank you for posting this. We are a Central Florida contractor, and I am glad to see this. I am shocked they followed through with the indictment, but happy to see it.

Mm, it's an election year.

The Democrats have to look like they're interested in doing something about illegal immigration.

This, too, shall pass.

That is largely due to the fact that the law has no teeth. An employer only needs to say that they didn't know that the employee was an illegal. There is no federal law that mandates mandatory verification. That's why it's so hard to prosecute employers for hiring illegals.
Some companies like the one I work for, requires employees to prove their status. They require 2 solid forms of Id and a Legal birth certificate (not a copy).
Passport or passport card is acceptable. You want to work for the company get the right ID.

DHS does NOT make the laws - the congress does-- why will they NOT fix the problem?

The Democrats think the illegals will vote for them if they gain citizenship.

The Republicans want the cheap labor.

No one cares what the American people want.

That explains Congress, but there is more to the story.

Congress has passed laws against illegal immigration and hiring of illegals.

But our presidents (who control DHS, etc) have refused to fully enforce those laws.

Our presidents have either been Democrats or Republicans.

The Democrats think the illegals will vote for them if they gain citizenship.

The Republicans want the cheap labor.

Beginning to see the picture?
