He isn’t opposed to pushing back against Trump’s agenda, either; in December, the mayor unveiled a $10 million fund to provide legal services to immigrants who could be in danger of deportation under Trump, and when Trump on Wednesday threatened to withhold funds from cities such as Los Angeles that limit cooperation with immigration officials, Garcetti didn’t hesitate to speak out.

“Splitting up families and cutting funding to any city — especially Los Angeles, where 40% of the nation’s goods enter the U.S. at our port, and more than 80 million passengers traveled through our airport last year — puts the personal safety and economic health of our entire nation at risk,” the mayor said in a statement. “It is not the way forward for the United States.”

Yet in his first in-depth interview about Trump, Garcetti recently revealed to Yahoo News that he tends to view his city’s — and his state’s — relationship with the new president in more nuanced terms than many of his progressive peers. In November, for instance, Garcetti reached out to the then-president-elect, and the two spoke briefly by phone about immigration and infrastructure — and L.A.’s 2024 Olympic bid.

I'm cutting and pasting from another thread. This is what it's all about. It's not about splitting families. It's about survival as a city if illegals leave.

You and others do realize that without illegals numbering in the millions in Los Angeles and Los Angeles county, the place will have to change drastically to refill the population void? The middle class has left this area in droves and was replaced by illegals and anchor babies. This has been going on for over 30 years in large numbers. Those anchor babies make up the majority of voters now. Now illegals are the norm and pay city and state sales taxes when they buy anything. Los Angeles politicians are terrified that they will be out of jobs if this ever happened and the middle class returns. Until then stores will close, employers will be out of workers to fill jobs and los angeles will be a shell of what it currently is.
There was a day a few years ago where illegals boycotted everything in Los Angeles. It was only one day. The result was that the freeways were no longer a traffic nightmare, crowds were gone at malls and supermarkets, and overall it was really, really nice. It was life like it used to be before we were invaded. I keep wishing they'll boycott everything again for a month this time.

I live in L.A . Seriously F Garcetti !
He opened his big mouth and literally called Trump a racist sexist bigot .
Then after election he keeps saying negative things about Trump now he wants to "work with him "
Really ?
This guy can't be trusted .
You can't insult someone and call them every name in the book and then say you want to work with them .

Also violent crime has risen since he's been mayor .
Homeless population has exploded . Quality of life has gone down in a lot of neighborhoods.

On the day you referenced, SANDAG,the San Diego Association of Governments conducted a $32 million study that backs up your statement and more. Sadly it has become impossible to find the study because the results were so UN PC.
