"We want to make sure that police officers don't abandon their beat and go enforce immigration laws," said Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon of Los Angeles, the author of the measure.

Republicans and law enforcement groups said the bill would make it harder for law officers to work together to fight crime.

Illegal aliens AND their fans need to be arrested including people like YOU, Mr de Leon. Your kind are just despicable.

Well, this was inevitable. It was only a matter of when they'd write it up.

What a lying weasel! No one is expecting local law enforcement to abandon their beats and chase illegals. All that is being expected of them is when they encounter them via lawful contact that they detain them for ICE. They would detain an American criminal, wouldn't they? What's the difference? How is the world would it hinder law officers to work together to fight crime? Many illegals ARE criminals, duh.

That's fine, fully expected. It'll only make it that much harder on them when they're slapped down; and the snowflake meltdown will be that much more enjoyable.

If we can wall them off and cut all ties, let's get it done! I will start a Go Fund Me account here for some buses to haul the tails of the illegal aliens out of here and as we catch them, rather than go through legal steps, we'll just ship them to the new country of CA. I think it is well worth cutting CA loose to have a place to send the illegal aliens. I hope they have money to support them all.

To be fair: has the rest of the US gotten so weak they want to just "give" Calif away? I'd MUCH rather FORCE the illegal fans in that state to toe the line or be arrested, charged and tossed in prison.

California lawmakers want to protect illegal aliens with taxpayer money?

In other news, grass is green.

I do not think there is much taxpayer money left - the state is in a financial mess. We have been paying for illegal aliens for years, and they just keep on comin'. Obviously, CaliMexico's priorities are screwed up, or are they? There's a sucker born every minute and this state is full of them.

Not that we have become so weak, but that CA has become such a pain in the butt, not to mention anti-American. Not everyone, but the state is certainly coming off that way.

Once walled off and passing out goodies, driver's licenses, public assistance, welcoming illegals from across the country, I just think for the rest of us It will make them a toilet flush away from 3rd world status. Should be great for those that have invested a lot of money in businesses, etc. in the state, NOT! They must be thinking with their butts there, so much for "higher educations".
