I checkedd this out on Snopes.com They say it is TRUE however the way I read it, it has been circulating via email since 2005 Urban Legends Reference Pages: Muslims Out of Australia! I also get the idea that these people The Prime Minister is talking to are legal immigrants to Australia.

This is BS and unproven. He may have said that but couldn't get anywhere with his wish. That's why John Howard is no longer the prime minister, replaced by Kevin Rudd (I think that's his name) from opposite party who speaks fluent chinese, has a chinese daughter in law, and is viewed as very liberal and immigrants friendly.
No, it means he won't automatically view immigrants in a negative way as his predecessor often did. I don't approve illegal immigrants as much as anyone on this board, but how do you deport your own citizens just because you don't like their radical views anyway? I thought this is a free country? If it were that easy, England, Germany, Spain, France, and other European countries will not be having the same headaches we do here.

Australia can be selective in who they choose to become citizens. They dont have to bend over backwards for Muslims. In Japan, they favor immigrants who assimilate easier, rather than ones that dont. Makes sense to me.
What makes you think the US is not selective in their immigration selection process? If anything, the route to citizenship is much more difficult, expensive, and time consuming in the US than in Australia. We bend over backwards for Muslim? Puhleeeze.. Let's do an experiment and apply for something with Mohammed as your first name and we'll see how far people will bend over backwards to get your business.
