Language like that makes immigrant advocates cringe. In recent years, there has been a push to change the vocabulary surrounding immigration to avoid the term “illegal.” The main idea is that it’s not a crime for a noncitizen to stay in the country without authorization, but a civil offense. Advocates frequently invoke the quote “no human being is illegal” from Nobel Peace Prize winner and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. They propose using “undocumented” or “unauthorized” instead.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...959da#comments

Mr Wiesel: you need to tell Israel that no person's an "illegal" assuming their kind ain't Jewish.

Back to the article: the Wash Post even using the words "illegal aliens"in its headline def means this mess just got real.

People are growing tired of these kind of language games. The term "illegal" does not refer to their status as a human being, it refers to their status as a resident or visitor of a country where their presence is unauthorized. The reason why Trump used the phrase "illegal alien" is because that's their official designation under federal law. It's not a phrase he personally chose for effect.

If you park in a no parking zone, you've parked illegally but it's not a crime, it's a civil offense. But it's still illegal. And while unlawful presence in the US is not a crime, unlawful entry is misdemeanor for the first offense and a felony thereafter.

But the same folks would probably say it's a free country we should be able to park wherever we please .

It's hard to reason with irrational people .

The word games are crazy and I blame the PC Social Justice Warriors.
We have seen the term illegal aliens evolve to illegal immigrant, to undocumented worker and if Hillary had won they would now be called future Democrat voters.

It is funny how common sense now prevails and how the term illegal alien has come full circle.

"Illegal alien" is becoming PC now with Trump as POTUS. The MSM is scared of pissing him off or is REALLY scared of the American people in 2017

They are illegal aliens. That's what they are so they need to be called that. They are not our "guests" as some call them "guest workers", I, personally am so over this PC crap. Lets say things like they are. Grow another layer of skin buttercup and deal with it. But this is coming from one who has never been PC and I never will!

Default "undocumented immigrant"

Education has failed in the US because people can't recognize an obvious euphemism for what it is: self-deception and intentional deception of others.

It's an obvious attempt by the media to influence the public's perception surreptitiously and an obvious failure of objectivity and an example of media bias.

Undocumented like they just lost their documents or something. Undocumented doesn't describe the crime.
