There were (and probably still are) some who would really prefer to be here legally. Sometimes coming here illegally was the best of a set of bad choices, but at least they were willing to come around and fix them. On the other hand, you have others who have no interest in legalizing their status, due to fear, or sometimes sheer laziness.

I'm wondering what this woman's excuse was. Fear or laziness? My wife and I have been married about a year and she's already got her green card, so it's not like it's a difficult process, just an annoying one.

Depends on his security clearance. but even at that, when I got married, all I needed to present was proof of marriage for the benefits and for her to receive her spouse ID card. I did not need to fill out an SF-86 because mine still was active, and I got out before needing to file a new one. The SF-86 does though go into this a bit.

But if he did not need a clearance, her status would not have mattered. My wife did not even have a residency visa or anything when she got her spouse ID, I was stationed overseas at the time.

This person should STOP blaming others and she only has herself to blame.

according to the article,

Alejandra petitioned to become a citizen in 2001, but was rejected because she was accused of making a false statement at the border when she sought asylum in 1998, said her attorney, Richard Maney. He said she was asked about her citizenship and told authorities she had been a student in Memphis, Tennessee for a short time, so border officials apparently thought she was falsely claiming to be an American citizen.

So the deportation is justified.

Yes, they can. They can return to their homelands and follow the legal process to come back legally. The process doesn't begin on our soil after coming here illegally, duh.

Low hanging fruit.

Those MS-13 people might require actual resources and stuff.

Even those so-called low hanging fruit are here illegally. Should they just get a pass on our immigration laws when they are caught?

No e-verify in love. Even then no liability for the "employer" in this case.

My guess is both. She had already been caught and deported once so under the 0 tolerance that's an automatic out. Initially probably laziness and a sense that there was no necessity to do so.

When she entered the country illegally the 2nd time, she became a felon.
