Covid-19 should really help push out more illegals.
The lockdown will kill the segment of economy that Illegal thrive in. Without the jobs, no reason to stay. Even with a ban on firing/layoffs, illegals are off books, so no harm no foul.
But they are not letting anyone through. They should keep people out, while letting people leave. If more people leave more odds they take Covid-19 with. Airlines, and borders, and boating are shut down.
Ok so if the Mexicans want to block their side of crossings, then perhaps we can give them a taste of their medicine by crossing at non checkpoints. We can set up shuttles for people wanting to take a "hike" or see some "scenery" along the border away from checkpoints.

First of all if the illegal aliens are Mexican citizens, then it won't be illegal for them to return to their own country.
Second, if the Mexican government is smart, they will lock down tight their southern borders---if only because they are worried about infected people getting through.
Truth - many jobs held by illegal immigrants are drying up (custodial services, factory work, restaurants, hospitality, nannys, housekeeping, etc.)
Truth - Those living in the U.S. illegally will not be eligible to receive the government individual stimulus checks, nor will they be eligible to receive unemployment benefits if they are furloughed or laid off as a result of COVID-19.
Based on these two points, it is likely that the longer this shutdown sustains, the more illegal immigrants will return to their country of origin.

You have no guarantee of care if you happen to get it because technically, you don't actually exist and nobody is obligated to pay for your medical care. Even the most open-borders Progressive types will turn against them in the face of an ever-increasing body count.

Sorry my friend your wrong, most regressives will gladly lower their living standards and acquiesce to accommodate illegal aliens.
If they are working under a fake or stolen SS number what's to prevent them from collecting unemployment and the stimulus check? Our government has no way of knowing if someone with a SS number is here illegally or not. If that were so, they would have been tossed them out of country long ago.

This is based on incorrect assumptions and by someone who does not personally know any illegal aliens.
