Okay, I apologize for my tone. All I am trying to say is that illegal immigrants do benefit this country in at least some ways (for instance, they are willing to work for far more hours and wages much lower then Americans would want).
The illegal immigrants will take jobs Americans will not take, and even at their unusually low wages, they would make for more then they would in Mexico. And with their lower wages, American businesses can pay American workers higher salaries. It is somewhat of a win-win situation in many cases.
I also understand that it is very difficult for an immigrant to enter this country (legally) if they do not make a lot of money. If is very easy for a wealthy foreigner to live in the country, but others are most likely forced on to 10+ year waiting lists. I think criminal background checks should be more important. I'll admit, however, that I don't have any evidence to back this up, I just heard from some people. It seems quite believable, though; immigrants probably only come into this country illegally because they don't have the means to otherwise. Otherwise, of course, there would be far more legal immigrants coming into this country.
White dudes used to do construction until the builders figured out they can pay the illegals $7.00 per hour cash instead of $15.00 to $20.00 per hour, the builders layed off thier higher paid employees and hired cheap illegal labor in which there is a law agianst but is seldom inforced, I had a few cousins who were forces out because of thier wages and were left the option to work for 1/3rd of what they were making or go into a new line of work. I hired two seperate contractors this year and none of thier workers could speek english, the forman was the only one I could speek to and that is a bunch of B.S.
I don't have a problem if they come here legally and pay taxes and I don't blame the illegals for wanting to come here I just think it is ruining our state and country. It all comes down to the greed of the buisnesses who hire illegals
Wait, when did they pay Construction workers 15.00 to 20.00 dollars? Must have been at least 25 years ago. The higher paid employees? There's not much hierarchy in Contruction, you have the peons and maybe a midsize peon surveying them in one category and the architect, developer, and general contractor at best. It's B.S. they can't speak English. LOL. Why would that affect you? Yeah there's greed, and that's not morally right. But, these Illegal dudes, they'd work for a brick. The last 4 lines have nothing to do with the conversation.
Without the illegals, there would be a massive job shortage. For example, Construction. I live in California, white dudes don't do Construction, it's physically very difficult.
Dont go there, white dudes do construction, my husbands one of them and I know so many more. White dudes cant afford to live off the money they pay illegals , (that have taken the jobs), because we pay taxes.
"White dudes" do construction in over half the states; Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Kansas, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine... The list goes on.

Not 25 years, in 2000 in oregon white dudes were making 10-12 an hour. My husband has been in construction 20 years, and he is now a PM, and they still want to pay him 20.00 an hour!!!

We had the same problem, and because we wouldnt hire illegals we went out of business. The subs we hired, their employees couldnt or wouldnt speak english and my husband would spend an hour telling them what they should have already known, my husbands time was wasted and they did a crap job, that he had to go fix.
Hello everyone. I was reading CA posts because they seem to share some very serious issues with FL. Illegal immigration is one of them. There are no pros to continuing to permit illegals to remain in the U.S. They are draining our resources, increasing crime rates, and taking jobs from U.S. Citizens due to business owners who have lost true loyalty to our country (they would rather give a job to an illegal than to an American because they can pay the illegal several dollars less per hour). This employment situation does not create better job opportunities for Americans. If Mexico does have a lower crime rate than here, it is because Mexicans respect their home country more than they respect the U.S. While living here. I realize that crime isn't just committed by illegals, but in the areas here that have heavy concentration of illegals, there is a heck of a lot more crime, and those areas are not safe to go into at any time of day. They are draining our government resources, putting Americans out of jobs while our tax money gives them housing assistance and free medical, AND they want to change America and have the AUDACITY to march against us and demand more rights?! Most of them are getting more than any citizen can get and just because of who they are? Something isn't right about this picture. They should be grateful, treat America and its citizens with respect - not with disrespect or by trying to turn it into Little Mexico or Little Cuba, which by the way is what is happening in some neighborhoods here. Have you any idea what would happen to us if we tried to pull some of the stuff in their countries that they pull here? I can just imagine what would happen if we marched in their countries demanding more rights or flew our home country flag over there while doing it or where we lived over there, OR refused to learn their language?! This is a problem that is way out of hand. Something does need to be done, and I apprciate the original poster of this thread and everyone else here who has had the guts to speak truthfully about this very serious problem facing our country. And as far as being fashionable to bash illegals, no, I don't think it has become fashionable to do so as someone on this thread suggests, but I would suggest that not speaking the truth or sugar coating it has, in fact, become fashionable.
