Imagine if the U.S. tried or even suggested this reasoned approach. The Democratic Party needs dependent and ''you owe us'' votes though given the lack of any other reasonable policies.

I always laugh when these pro-illegals use that excuse as there are unlimited visas for legal, foreign crop pickers. They even go as far as to say they are only doing jobs that Americans won't do such as construction, landscaping, restaurant work, etc. Yeah, they won't do those jobs for half of what they used to pay before millions of cheap illegals flooded our border (they always leave that part out).

what you always leave out is that the demand is based on affordability.
The nation needs more younger people willing to work. If not for the illegals and their offspring the median age of the US would probably be close to 50 years old. Our production domestically would plummet.
Appropriate higher levels of legal (and streamlined) immigration would go a long way to solving the problem. There would be less tolerance towards illegals if there were enough legal workers. Less tolerance would go hand in hand with tougher laws/enforcement.

Unfortunately, this is spot on. If they wanted to stop it, it would be little more than a trickle. The elites want free movement of people globally as a money and power play for them and them exclusively.

At first maybe but as leadership changes hands and the problem becomes unsustainable they finally wake up though. That's what happened when Trump became president here and there are more law abiding politicians in congress.
