California legislation would give some unemployed illegal immigrants $300 for up to 20 weeks with state funds

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ami...gal-immigrants

Quote:
A California bill that would provide unemployment benefits to illegal immigrants is set for review this week as the Golden State braces for an influx of migrants following Title 42's expiration.

SB 227, or the Safety Net for All Workers Act, would provide laid-off illegal immigrants with $300 per week for up to 20 weeks with funds from state coffers. In March, the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the statewide bill.

First, reparations for African Americans, then unemployment for illegals, WHAT"S NEXT?

Gotta love californikation

why not provide them with income? if you're a professed sanctuary for immigrants it only makes sense to care for them when they come. It cost money. Duh. California just needs to raise taxes to fulfill their obligation. This isn't rocket science if you want to "walk the walk".

Yes it does cost money. Duh. Lets look at this with another perspective. Poland is a small country, tiny in comparison to the USA. They have taken in over one million refuges from Ukraine. Germany has taken a million as well, also another small country.

How do you feel about that? Don't care? It's wonderful of them? Those people are not brown?

Ukrainian refugees are in many countries. The UK has about 164,000. Canada about 167,000. Italy 170,000.

We are not alone with migrants trying to escape dangerous conditions. There are roughly 7.6 million Ukrainian refugees across Europe. Who is paying for that? Brookings has a great article: "Ukrainian refugees: Challenges in a welcoming Europe."

So to keep this in perspective. We have granted asylum to 45,500 people in 2021. That's not the whole story either. Roughly 1.6 million people are here waiting for asylum hearings. That is still a drop in the bucket compared to the Ukrainian refugees in Europe.

So before you get your daily dose of hate kool aid from your partisan emotional half truth news source, think about how you would feel having to leave your home because of war or corruption and violence, and think about how you would feel if no one would help you or help to feed your hungry child.

We are all part of the human race no matter what country we are from. These people aren't vermin, they're not insects invading, they are part of the human race. In this country we treat people humanely and with dignity. So no matter how much you get your knickers in a twist and wish they would just starve on the street, that's not going to happen.

So what do we do about all of these people coming here? Did Trump stop it? No. Is Biden gong to stop it? No. Will Congress fix our broken immigration system? Highly unlikely. The rage porn is a more effective tool than fixing the problem.

What we have is a humanitarian crisis, so lets treat them like human beings first. Our immigration laws dictate that they get to have their voices heard in court in front of a judge. Like it or not, that's the system we have.

You want change? Be willing to vote for someone on either side of the isle that might finally be willing to do something about our immigration laws. Until we change. Nothing changes.

Why do you and yours constantly play the skin color/race card? It's ridiculous! We take in thousands of refugees every year and most of them don't have white skin so WTH are you talking about? Why should we have to do as other countries do anyway? Are you not aware that out of all the asylum claimants here in the U.S. that 80% of them are making bogus claims? We have no obligation to take in any more foreigners into our country just because they are human. Americans are human to and we must first meet their needs.

Trump did implement that "wait in Mexico" policy when he was president so again, WTH are you talking about? We have no broken immigration system what we have is the lack of enforcement of it. WTH is rage porn? We don't need more immigration laws nor do we need to change the sensible ones we already have on the books!

When I read the article, I thought it meant that pretty much anyone walking over the border could get unemployment immediately. So I looked into it further.

As I understand it, he's talking about illegals that are already here, already employed, already having Federal, state and Unemployment taken out of their checks and then get laid off. So they'd be drawing from the same pool of money that they've been paying into.

Not a Newsom fan, not a Democrat, and not in favor of illegals working here (generally with stolen Social Security numbers), but honestly, if they're paying, they deserve to draw it out.

However, knowing Newsom, I'd want to read the bill/EO after it gets signed to see if it still says that.
