Frankly:
I fail to see why my tax dollars have to subsidize someone's perceived 'need' for a TV converter box. I am willing to hazard a guess they would be about $100 for full retail-----which is less than $10 a month for one year to pay for it.

Alanboy, we must be mindful of the "special" status of the Spanish-speaking community. After all, most of the illegal aliens are included in this group. We certainly wouldn't want them to feel as though they’re being denied the “right” to watch TV. Furthermore, how on earth will they know the date of the next protest march?

I thought they were coming here to work hard, do those low paying jobs Americans won't do, now we find out they're coming to lay around and watch tv.
I don't watch tv, why should I subsidize someone who does?

And I have a real good solution for those Mexicans who are so concerned about losing their "cultural ties" by not being able to lay around all day watching their novelas.....

Actually, i think it is $50-60 dollars. I think giving up two weeks worth of beer, 6 days without Popeye's chicken, OR two weeks without smokes should buy one DTV box.
One quote in the article asks shouldn't TV be free? My answer is TV is a luxury. If you want TV work for it.

I'm sure LULAC will come across and get the boxes for them.
