Not all illegal immigrants qualified for amnesty in the 80's. There are still people from that era, that were not legalized, still living in this country.

In many states you can even get away with voting without being a citizen so why bother with the paperwork?

Many feel that parts of the US are actually Mexico so why bother getting dual citizenship?
Try it!? I think you might be surprised.

Wasn't it the Republicans that voted down many of the Pierce, anti-illegal immigration bills in Arizona recently?

A very large number of people were not living in the USA until that amnesty and many never stepped foot until they showed up to get in on it.

I highly doubt many illegals living here - an estimated 300,000 at the time didn't get in on it when well over 3 million people cashed in on that amnesty.
