The work is far from done, but Secretary of State Dianna Duran testified during a House committee Tuesday that the review has turned up evidence of foreign nationals obtaining a license, registering to vote and casting ballots.
Secretary of state checks licenses, voter rolls | KOB.com (http://www.kob.com/article/stories/S2018851.shtml?cat=504 - broken link)

Why would anyone believe people who consistently flout our laws would hesitate to “affirm” their citizenship status on a voter registration form, conveniently attached to a DL application? Every state that stupidly issues or issued driver’s licenses to illegals has facilitated this mess.

Of course illegals are voting. Why wouldn’t they?

and when caught they'll get a pass by saying they "didn't know" it was wrong.

Of course they will. That’s their standard excuse. Most likely, the Supreme Court will prohibit criminal charges by ruling they can’t be charged with voter fraud, unless they “knowingly” violated the law. After all, the voter registration form IS attached to the driver’s license application, so how could they possibly know they aren’t eligible to vote?

And, they’ll say they didn’t understand the meaning of, “I do hereby swear, or affirm, under penalty of perjury, that I am a U.S. citizen.”

Do you recall that case that was in the news about the one that voted while a LPR getting his voting record purged so it wouldn't affect his citizenship application?

Another case of sensationalism. The NM Secretary of State went over voter records for numerous years, and tens of thousands of people, and found evidence of 37 possibly fraudulent votes. Hardly the scandal you would make it seem. I would imagine you could find a similar number of fraudulent votes if another criteria was used.

Angry State Official: Foreign Nationals Fraudulently Voted in New Mexico Elections

i guess this could go in elections, illegal immigration, or P&OC.

Quote:
New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna Duran said she has proof that foreign nationals and possibly illegal immigrants have cast ballots in elections in the state.

There’s long been speculation that foreign nationals have voted illegally in New Mexico elections. On Tuesday, Duran told Action 7 News that they have.

Sensationalism? Do tell. I bet those who lost local elections by a dozen votes would beg to differ. So, we should simply shrug our shoulders, and ignore voter fraud? If illegals are voting in NM, do you think they aren’t voting in other states? How many illegals need to vote before it becomes an issue?
