Word just came in that a former couple from Lake Forest was indicted in Santa Ana today for knowingly hiring and harboring illegal immigrants. If convicted, the pair could face more than 15 years in prison, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The former couple apparently hired people here illegally and suggested they find spouses through Eharmony, the online dating Web site, or Leisure World, the retirement community in Seal Beach, an ICE report stated.

Marriage to a U.S. citizen could provide them with legal status.

Wilfredo Ngo, 51, and his ex-wife Teresa Ngo, 49, were indicted on four counts: inducing aliens to reside in the United States; knowingly employing illegal aliens; knowingly harboring illegal aliens; and counseling persons to engage in marriage fraud.

The Ngos own A-Plus Senior Planning Services, Inc., a Lake Forest employment agency that provides caregivers to Orange County private homes and elder care facilities.

Their office manager, 43-year-old Gicela Sarabia, was also indicted today on two counts: inducing aliens to reside in the United States and knowingly hiring illegal aliens. Sarabia is from the Philippines and also in the country illegally, ICE reported.

There should be some requirements before someone is allowed to import people for whatever purpose they want to import them. Spouses should be required to provide financial support such as medical insurance.

Problem of "marriage fraud" is across the board with the different immigrant groups. Human trafficking is probably the second most profitable criminal activity.

Years ago, I was offered $10,000 on several occasions in my home town to do this. Seems harmless enough (as the story is pitched) until you start thinking about it. Where does a poor girl (family) in such a such country come up with $10,000? That's the human trafficking side of it . . servitude. It's not "buying a bride", it's being a mule to bring someone into the United States you will probably never see again, then 2 years later someone gives you the divorce papers, and they will be someone's slave until they pay down the debt. That's being party to organized crime.

From what I understand, $10,000 is low compared to the offers I'm seeing others posting of $30,000. Guess it depends on where you're from.

Is there no limit to what illegals will do to remain in this country and partake of the myriad freebies? It's despicable.

The problem is the sense of "more more more" that some of these girls today have. At one time, a girl was happy to find a husband....ANY husband, as long as he had all his teeth, a semi-regular paycheck, didn't drink TOO often, and came home most weekends. An occasional bath was looked at as a 'plus', as well.

Now these girls want CITIZENS, on top of all that? Where does it all end?

Ahh Orange County, CA; the Republican fortress of wealth, home of the MinuteMen and all of its anti-illegal, anti-Mexican rhetoric.

The same folks who parade their anti-illegal stance are so deep in hiring them.

What a BS show the repubs put on here in OC.

Yeah, kind of reminds me of the BS that the pro-illegal and the illegals spew all of the time all over the country, but specifically in the state of CA. They have absolutely ruined the state. Even hard working Latinos like me are moving ourselves and our families out the hell hole that has been created in CA.
