SOME members of the Irish community have expressed their disappointment at the news that the Irish government has secured the allotment of 20,000 U.S. visas for Irish citizens on an annual basis.

Several undocumented who have been campaigning with the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform (ILIR) for more than two years in an effort to get legalized, expressed their upset at the Irish government for agreeing to provide 20,000 visas to new Irish citizens and not doing anything to sort out the issue of the estimated 50,000 Irish undocumented currently residing in the U.S., some for nearly 20 years.

Maybe everybody should just stay in their own damn country. This whiney, immigration entitlement mess is ridiculous.

Had the 50,000 illegal Irish remained in their country and followed the law, perhaps they would be included in the 20,000 annual visas. They deserve nothing but deportation.

Agreed. One of two things needs to be done:

(1) Reinstitution and enforcement of the reasons/laws for legal immigration;

(2) Long term (as in at least 10 YEARS)temporary halt on ALL immigration.

This crap about people seeking a better life, visa overstays, running across the borders to dump anchors, and just blatant and total defiance of our laws and sovereignty is beyond sickening. Any Americans in other countries illegally should be deported from them as well.

It's long past time for America to enforce our laws and get it's house in order before we cease to have one.
