Sure they are. That’s why we still have thousands crossing daily, and the drug trade continues to flourish. This is the BS they will try to feed us to justify amnesty. Do they actually believe we are that stupid?

During the debate over immigration reform in Congress over the past few years, certain parties have consistently pointed to border security as a top priority, as the Associated Press points out. The continuing debate over what constituted adequate border security was a major reason why the immigration bill failed three times.

But according to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the borders are now safe enough to take a step forward. "We can pass strong, fair, practical and effective immigration reform this year," he said following a hearing on border security Wednesday.

Yeah right. And with joblessness high and growing, we really want to import millions more impoverished people at this time. The employers need to start paying for the illegals they already brought in.

Safe? Up to 2 cars out of 10 on the road are being piloted by Illegals in Cities like Escondido. I wouldn't call sharing the road with people who are uninsured and unlicensed by default safe?

Those words are coming from the mouth of someone who helped write the 1st amnesty bill in 1986.

Yep, they're secure enough now just pass the damned amnesty bill so he can get all that political support and votes.

I think this is why Obama was trying go give additional resources to Border Enforcement, one of the main points that is stopping immigration reform is the concerns about how secure is the border. In the other thread about Obama flip flopping about the immigration issue, I suggested that the support for border enforcement could be a political move to gain support from politicians who require higher border protection before supporting immigration reform.

I think this is smart, kind of like in chess, getting the pieces into the right places before executing a checkmate.

to be fair, i am proud of our corps of engineers the fence in san ysidro which should have been done years ago-- is complete. the political resistence to it completion was huge. its completion has moved illegal immigrantion over a state.
we got a trickle still, but 80% of all illegal immigration in america came thru here 10 years ago.
you will know when we are doing it right the howls from los pinos can be heard over traffic.
