More than 10 community organizations of immigrant activists met Sunday at a Homestead church before climbing on a bus headed to Washington, D.C.

The Florida Immigrant Coalition and other organizations plan to rally the day after President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration for an end to raids and deportations of immigrants.

The groups said they want humane immigration reform.

''This is an important moment for immigrant families,'' said Carlos Pereira of CODI.``We have big hopes for legalization and a strong commitment to making changes that benefit our communities. We're going to represent more than a million people without papers in Florida.''

I wasnot aware that the INS conducted raids and deportations against legal residents of the US! How despicable!!

Oh wait......they don't. Proillegal sympathsizers can play with language all they want, but the truth is legal residents (which includes legal immigrants) are never deported (unless they have been found to have committed a crime and/or falsified documents). It is only illegal immigrants that are deported.
For that 'little' lie, I hope Mr Pareira gets frost bite while he pickets in DC.

They can hope all that they want. Obama is NOT a one man band. The will of the American people will be the deciders as to what mode of transportation we wish to use in sending them home.
