Congressman Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., plans to introduce a bill that would make a third drunken driving offense by an illegal immigrant grounds for deportation. "I keep hearing again and again that illegal immigrants with several drunken driving convictions are still here and still on the road," Flake said in announcing he will sponsor the bill. "In many cases, people have been killed or severely injured, and it's simply not right."
Flake said high profile cases -- such as the death of Phoenix Police Officer Shane Figueroa last fall -- have drawn attention to the problem. Figueroa was killed in a traffic crash involving an illegal immigrant driving drunk.
"People are understandably upset that there isn't an easier way to deport those who have multiple drunken driving offenses," Flake said.
"Right now, a drunken driving offense has no immigration consequences in and of itself," said Flake, "so this legislation would say, 'If you have three drunken driving incidents, then you're out. It's a deportable offense.'"
Flake hopes his bill will lead to "a federal law simply saying that three strikes and you're out -- out of the country."

Seriously what does culture have to do with drunk driving? Btw, i do agree with you, 1 strike and they are out.
Certain cultures think (or used to) that drunkeness is acceptable.
An extreme example would be the Irish vs. the Jews of ca. 100 years ago: the former were 25 times more likely to be alcoholics---------hence the former much more likely to be trashed in public.
BTW: both groups are usually Anglo AKA non Hispanic Whites.

drunk driving is not specific to illegals. plenty of drunks get hauled away to the clink for a night after driving drunk. kids nowadays think its a rite of passage. its sad.

The ongoing carnage on American highways from Mexican drunk drivers is increasing with an expanding population of foreigners not assimilating to the American way of driving—law-abiding, sober and strapped in. #4 Animal cruelty is no problema.

The U.S. must insist on responsible development in Third World nations and an end to the unhealthy dependence on the easy money of remittances provided by immigrants. The Mexican National Population Council estimates that more than one out of 10 families depend on remittances as their main source of income.
