In other words, we should simply ignore all of our immigration laws, and embrace illegal aliens. And of course we should ignore identity theft.

Prensa Libre (Guatemala City, Guatemala) 1/10/09

“The U.S. is asked to discontinue eight measures”
The Guatemalan Immigrants’ Movement (”MIGUA”) requested the president elect of the United States, Barack Obama, to suspend eight policies which the American government carries out against undocumented aliens, among them round-ups and massive deportations, the accords which obligate local authorities to support the work of the Office of Immigration and Customs (sic) (ICE, in English) and the crime of identity theft. In a document, a copy of which was delivered to Obama’s work team during the last week of December of 2008, MIGUA requested that “It is a just thing that a moratorium be declared of the round-ups which ICE carries out against individuals and communities, until Congress approves a migratory reform law.”

The pro-immigrant organization also asked that ICE stop pressuring local authorities to apply federal immigration laws.

Ben Monterroso, executive director of the National Workers’ Syndicate, based in Los Angeles, California, stated ”we acknowledge there are some 12 million undocumented in the country - of which one million could be from Guatemala - whose Social Security card could be incompatible with the system.” He added that with this procedure the Americans can also be negatively affected because the active data banks have a margin of error between 8 and 10 percent.
Guatemalan Immigrants’ Movement (MIGUA) demands US Government discontinue ICE roundups, use of E-Verify Social Security Verification by employers and any identity theft charges against all illegal aliens « M3 Report

MIGUA needs to go pound sand.
Or perhaps simply bury themselves in it. Their arrogance and sense of entitlement is perplexing to say the least.

whose Social Security card could be incompatible with the system?

I guess they don't have credit in Guatemala? Otherwise they would know it is stealing. Is stealing not a crime there?

Hey, this kind of attitude works for Mexico so why shouldn't Guatamala try it?

Anyone know if Migua has given Mexico a list of demands? I understand Mexico doesn't put up with people crossing their border with Guatamala.

There isn't a whole lot of people crossing from the North.
Somehow, lots of Guatemalans end up in the US.

Yet Mexico throws out illegal immigrants who wish to set up shop, so to speak, in Mexico.
I imagine they are more lenient for those just passing through.
