Hispanic illegal immigrants hit by wave of robberies in US (spokeswoman, Mexican)

The precise number of robberies against Hispanic immigrants "will never be known (due to the fear of deportation)," Little told AFP.

But advocate groups and police departments are trying to spread the word that illegal immigrants will not face deportation if they report a crime.

"One of the things that we try to point out, when we go into local Hispanic communities to talk about this, is that if you're a victim of a crime, your deportation status doesn't matter," said Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for the police department in Clearwater, Florida.

The city, which has a large number of Mexican immigrant workers, had 55 robberies in 2008 in which the victims were Hispanic males, according to Watts.

To combat the problem, authorities in Austin, Texas sought help from local banks to enable more immigrant workers to open up accounts.

Wait a minute... The article doesn't say who is robbing them. It only states that they have been robbed. They could be robbed by African-Americans, White-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanic-American, American-American, etc.

This is a scary reality that increasingly many in the US feel toward the police. Where trust is not the issue it is the saddened reality of their (the police) lack of willingness to act or inability due to cutbacks.

Illegal immigrants from Mexico/Central America living in the U.S generally do not live in the same neighborhoods as White people because most of them can only afford to live in lower income barrios. And White people generally do not enter Hispanic barrios in order to commit crimes there. The chances of somebody gettiing mugged by a White thug in the heavily Hispanic East Los Angeles for example is slim to none.

UM.... being that my wife is a crime analyst I can assure you that all of the crime being committed in areas like La Jolla CA are not being committed by the locals. I hear they drive there. Strange concept and it took me a while to wrap my mind around it.

Oh, and our lower income areas are quite covered by all ethnic groups. La Mesa , El cajon and Spring Valley all have areas with lower income, mixed hoods.

What do you need to know? I get to see the "special" reports broke down by demographics too pc for the mainstream. God forbid we call it as it is. Of course it will have to be my "guestimate" as I can't share the data.

Most poor Nonwhite racial minorities live in highly racially segregated neighborhoods/areas where there are either few or no White people around and that is a fact. I even remember a Black stand up comedian on BET's Comic View joking about his child hood growing up in Compton about how he he had never even seen a White person upclose before until him mother took him to Disneyland in Orange County.

Sorry but White on Nonwhite crime is not an epidemic in America especially if you live in the ghetto where it is overwhelmingly Black and Brown so most people there do not even come into contact with White people on a daily basis unless it is the police. You are not going to see some Aryan skinhead anytime soon go into South Central or Compton and start stabbing, shooting, and robbing people there.

No, can't disagree with that statement completely. It is usually poor on poor or poor on middle class on up crime. But, areas like what I stated are mixed. Tweekers come in all colors my friend.
