exactly!

the reason they break the law is for financial gain. if there is no financial gain, there is no reason to break the law.

it is insane for people to talk about adding a whole other group for social security benefits when we can't even afford the americans that we have that are going to be eligible for social security.

what people would want to deprive their own parents or family members of social security benefits? a lot of those people have paid into the system throughout their entire lives.

There are 2 holes in that argument. Some things are done "under the table". It is technically illegal, but if it can't be detected, what can you do? Some people without working permits do such jobs.
As for making it a felony, they would still be hear. Putting them in jail for coming here illegally won't work for that reason. Being fed for free, well, some people would like that.

So under "our" terms....yes you are for amnesty.

I don't think there will be mass involuntary deportations but something like e-verify and/or a National I.D. card will be implemented across the country and therefore most will self-deport.

Im not for Amensty in any terms. No amnesty.

It should be felony because a felony is the most serious of crimes with the severest of punishments. It is a good deterrant.

Strict enforcement of e-verify in the workplace will get rid us of most and deter anymore from coming. I doubt that most employers will take a chance and employ them under the table. At least it would take care of most of the abuse anyway.

But along with e-verify we need to deny any taxpayer benefits to illegals and that would include education, welfare and healthcare (accept for emergencies). We also need to have the birthright citizenship amendment re-interpreted so that children of illegal aliens do not gain citizenship in that manner. A lot of the welfare that illegals get is directly through their U.S. born children.

If those waiting to cross illegally were made to know that it would be a felony (rather than a slap on the wrist as it is now) and that they would be imprisoned for a long period of time, yes it would be a deterrant.
