Many people fail to recognize that just because ICE arrests illegal aliens not all of them are from "Mexico". Also unless they're non-criminal, they cannot be just "deported", they have to go through the whole immigration deportation process..and what's crazy is they may get bonded out or be on a ankle bracelet to report for their immigration hearing which they usually won't come to..which obviously makes immigration enforcement moot.
The true and only way to deter illegal immigration is to enforce our borders like the way every other country in the world does which is putting our military there and truly making it a national border.

It is coming...............
If nothing else: the growing drug violence SoB may be the 'tipping point'.
Well -- no one has tried deportation so we can't really say it can't work.
Of course deporation can work and many of these cases should be deported and they can appeal from within their own countries. What are they appealing exactly? That they've committed felony document fraud and are using a stolen social security number? That they had a baby at US taxpayer expense and so claim that gives them a right to stay forever?
Yes to stronger border enforcement -- but there's no need to rule out deportation at least for the obvious cases. We must also put an end to the anchor baby scam that gives them a way around the legal process and stop the welfare handouts. Maybe most important would be to go hard after the employers, hit them with heavy fines, make them pay back the taxpayer all costs incurred by their illegals and some prison time.
The deportation process of illegal aliens should be streamlined. No reason it can't be completed in 72 hours. I'd propose that they be flown back to Mexico City. Hopefully that would make it a bit harder on them to return.
Either Mexico City or right outside the border, Ciudad Juarez is a good central location. If someone comes through Mexico from some other country, I see no reason we can't just send them back the way they came and let them get back home the way they came in. If they crossed over the Mexican border, then all we have to do is get them back over it. It's not our problem if they should decide they want to remain in Mexico and Mexico allows them to do so.
precisely..I was trying to point out that their immigration status is varied..some can be in the process or same maybe be permanent residents..
Someone mentioned the 72 hours. It is impossible to remove ALL aliens in immigration within these time frames. Everday hundreds of aliens get transported from the local jails to ICE on a daily basis.
Out of these aliens that come into ICE custody, many can be sick, hurt, etc. AND now if they are aggravated felons OTM (other than Mexico) ICE cannot just offer them "voluntary return" <--not seeing an immigration judge, it's going to take some time if they don't have a passport or their country of origin is unverifiable. They need to be interviewed by the consulate to ascertain if they are truly from country XYZ..

You and stiffneck are correct, INS (now ICE) "used" to do what they called interior returns..they would fly them to to Mexico City..or as far south of the US/Mexico border as possible..but as the illegal immigration multiplies in ICE custody it's no longer cost effective.

It is not difficult to round up illegals and deport them all. It is just that we have a Congress and Presidents who refuse to take care of the situation.

ICE does not have anywhere the bedspace required to even attempt to try this. Not everyone is from Mexico (sorry..just being honest), it's not a quick bus ride to the border any more.
