Hazleton, Pennsylvania is calling for a Supreme Court show down for not allowing them to enforce restrictions against hiring and renting to illegal aliens. Hazleton's ordinances would have allowed the city to punish landlords found to be renting to illegal immigrants and punish employers found to be hiring them.
Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta said, he intends to appeal. Hazleton supporter claim now Washington has a free pass to choose which laws to enforce and is shucking their responsibilities to the American people. Barletta said "But our fight is not yet over.
The Mayor said, "The federal appeals court ruling was a "blow" to cities trying to shield themselves from the "drain" of illegal immigration. The problem is that the federal government refuses to regulate the immigration problems that we're having in Hazleton and yet tells us that we can't defend ourselves." Other cities and states like and have been inspired by Hazleton and want similar laws in their cities.
The 3rd Circuit court agreed with the ACLU claims that the immigration law is too complicated for states to do anything other dole out services at taxpayer expense, regardless of residency. Dan Stein, president of The Federation for American Immigration Reform, said, "This line of argument allows the federal government to continue to mismanage immigration while sending the states into financial chaos and ruin."
The ACLU has been fighting Hazleton since 2006 and they claim victory over the ordinances. They say the ordinances discriminated against Hispanics.
Too bad this hits really close to home for me as Hazleton is 2 hours away from here. I'm so sick of this administration and of the liberal activist judges in this country. Isn't it funny now that the Democrats are on track to lose their majority in November, all these liberal judges have come out of the woodwork and striking down laws left, right, and center? So it's unconstitutional to enforce the federal immigration laws, but it's ok for cities to protect illegal aliens (sanctuary cities)? Course we all know why this happened. Hazleton isn't exactly a bastion of Democrat votes, I mean, the Democrat still haven't gone after Rhode Island

I don't know about you, but Lou Barletta is like a HERO to me, Arizona and this country and(as I have been doing) I will support this man in anyway I possibly can.
He started the ball rolling for states and cities to stand up against illegal immigration. Now, Oklahoma, Arizona and many others are in line to follow.
I've talked to Lou before and what I'd like to see is for Jan Brewer, Lou Barletta and all the states and cities against illegal immigration to work together.
Like Ted Hayes said, "We don't have a "National Leader" So let's settle for the next best thing. and to hell with the Feds.

I agree. Brewer, Barletta, Arpaio, Hayes and any other public figures in our country whom are fed up with this illegal alien invasion should all meet and stragetize a plan together to challenge our federal government head on over this problem and divise their own nationwide plan to solve this problem if they get no cooperation from the feds.
