Rep. Nathan Deal's (R-Ga.) bill to end Birthright Citizenship added 25 new cosponsors after the Memorial Day recess. The bill currently has 71 cosponsors in addition to Deal and is one of the five bills closely followed by NumbersUSA.
The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act. Under the bill, a person born in the United States gains citizenship if one of the person's parents is:
a citizen or national of the United States;
an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States whose residence is in the United States; or
an alien performing active service in the armed forces.

No way in hell that this project will even be considered,LOL,
Considering the fact that the VAST majority of illegal aliens wait until they are here before they have children, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand WHY this is a pattern. Furthermore, the original intent of the 14th Amendment certainly was not to provide an expedient method for illegal foreigners to fleece this country.
At this rate, every country in the world will have a huge percentage of citizens who also hold dual citizenship in the US, and thereby have a voice in our political decisions. We already have 11% of Mexico’s citizens living here; many whom have dual citizenship. Just think of the ramifications if we had a similar percentage of citizens from a country hell-bent on our destruction.
If illegals are truly here only to work, it really shouldn’t matter if their children are considered U.S. citizens. Diplomats and other foreign nationals don’t have a problem with their U.S.-born children being denied citizenship, so why should people who have no right to even be here; unless they have ulterior motives, such as using their children to anchor them to this country, and abuse our social services.
I dare say, if this bill passes, we will see a decline in the illegal alien birthrate of historic proportions. When they can no longer exploit their children for profit, and they can no longer use this country as a giant “free” maternity service, this IA baby boom will come to a screeching halt.
This is going to be struck down as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court (esp now that it might be infiltrated by a La Raza member) even if it passes. There must be a Constitutional amendment. That is the only way.

The article didn't say but I'm assuming that all or most of the co-sponsors are Republicans? We all know that the Republican politicians are fighting illegal immigration and the career Democratic politicians are fighting the Republicans fighting illegal immigration. So unless some Blue Dog Democrats come on board the Birthright Citizenship Act doesn't have a chance, since the Democrats now control Congress. The thing is that with the present interpretation of the 14th amendment the currently over 300,000 anchor babies born each year to illegal parents will mostly go on and become future Democratic voters. It's working so well for the career Democratic politicians that they're not going to support changing the 14th amendment, even though it's obviously damaging the country, unless their constituents demand it. I just don't hold out too much hope for enough of the Democratic base to make much of a difference.
