That article is hilarious. This reminds me of other bills that get something crammed into that is not even closely related. The firearms in National Parks one comes to mind. HAAA ha aaa haaa

1) How do you know that the gays that would come are intelligent, educated, and self-sufficient and not illiterate, and welfare-seeking. Correct me if I'm wrong, but being gay does not make you any better than if you are straight. This is "family" based, not merit based; so once they open the door all kinds of people come in.

2) According to some of the Judiciary Hearing testimonies the main problem with this bill is enforcement.

Since gay marriage is recognized/performed in very few nations the ones coming from areas where gay marriage is not recognized just have to show that they are together intimately and financially. So this lends itself to a myriad of possibilities of abuse.

This does not go with my idea of immigration laws that take into account merit, not just family ties. So I don't really have a strong stance on this particular bill. But I do think that the people who come from places where they cannot get married, be required to enter on something similar to fiancee status and to get married in on of the states that allow gay marriage in the U.S.

Uh, which 'disenfranchised group' is seeking to further suppress another other disenfranchised group, the latter of which I presume you mean gay rights activists?

Given that the vast majority of illegal aliens have less than a 6th grade education, I think it’s pretty safe to assume the gay legal immigrants would be more educated, and thereby more self-sufficient. It isn’t a comparison between gay and straight; rather, a comparison between legal immigrants and illegal aliens.

In any case, I would welcome anyone who legally immigrates to this country. Illegal aliens are not welcome. That’s it in a nutshell.

I agree. This bill will face challenges for some of the reasons you have mentioned.
