Can someone clear this up for me please? Isnt Minutemen border watchers for illegal immigrants trying to cross the border?

The article says they won a law suit against THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION for $157,000. I thought they were concerned about how much money illegal aliens are costing the state? This amount is ridiculous, our government is already walking on thin ice and CA is bankrupt but this group can afford to take $157,000?

Wouldnt it have been enough to sue for the costs of the case and a written apology? And it wasnt even a case won, it was just a settlement for not allowing them to clean up the highway.

San Diego Minutemen settle suit over Adopt-A-Highway - 8/06/09 - Fresno News - abc30.com (http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?section=news/state&id=6952928&rss=rss-kfsn-article-6952928 - broken link)

So, are you against freedom of speech, the grounds on which they won their lawsuit? Perhaps California needs to care more about the rights of it's legal citizens than they do the feelings of illegal aliens.

I'm not against them in any shape, way or form! I'm against the amount they suited for considering I am a tax payer of California and considering my state is going bankrupt!

Better the Minutemen who are volunteers defending our country's border from Drug dealers and other parasites receive the money than an Illegal Alien who comes across the border to drop an anchor baby and expect the taxpayers of California (and the U.S.) support it with millions of dollars..

The amount of money that the Minutemen took is a drop in the bucket compared to what Illegal Aliens have sucked dry from the state.. At least here we know that it is being put to good use.. To an organization that is committed to securing our borders!

Thank you kind sir for setting this into motion. You are one hundred percent correct. Evidently we have some wavering citizens as to which flag they hold sacred here in the US.

You really think this is about choosing a flag? I thought it was about doing anything we could to save our state from going bankrupt. Where is the socalled charity work?

Better an anti illegal alien group receiving $$$ damages vs. some borderline treasonous crowd like MEChA.

discrimination is an unforgiveable sin on the coast. for those supporting illegal immigration, mainly the fat cat people that make money off exploiting the poor, minutemen are KKK.the reason minutemen exist is bek our gov absolutely refuses to enforce the law. 21 million illegal mexican people, our government does not know how they got here and does not know where they are working. trust me when you see pro illegal posts on CDF--- somebody is making money off an illegal immigrant. 50 years ago minutemen would have been supported by unions and you and i would be members of those unions.

Neither should sue for senseless things as these. Where is the emotional distress caused by not allowing a group to "clean"? Or are we now paying them to do the job ICE can't do? Again, where is the so called charity work?

Very Well Stated!!!

And let's also not forget that Farmworker Rights' activist Cesar Chavez was strongly against Illegal Immigration and had a group similar to the Minutemen on the Southern Border to keep Illegals from coming in and bringing down wages and working conditions..
