Perhaps someone will explain why we should grant more visas to Mexicans than to Nigerians, or any other nationality. Mexico’s proximity to the U.S. should not entitle them to preferential treatment.

Quote:
“Come January, if we're not hearing something,” said Graciela Sanchez, executive director of the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center, “we'll have to make a push.”

“Reform is a priority in the Latino community,” said San Antonian Rosa Rosales, national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens. “I would strongly urge that Latino organizations push the issue that we need comprehensive immigration reform now.”

Obama “is not going to forget the immigrant community,” she added.

Donna R. Gabaccia of the Immigration History Research Center at the University of Minnesota said the limits have contributed “to a sense that immigration is out of control.”

That the same number of visas is extended to both Nigeria and Mexico, for example, is not realistic, the historian said. And congressional loopholes for refugees and relatives of immigrants compound the problem, she said.

Didn't you know? It's all about La Raza - and last I checked Nigerians are not part of La Raza.

"What opponents call “amnesty,” supporters couch as “a pathway to citizenship” for the 11 million to 12 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States. Instead of harsh punishment or deportation, Archbishop José Gomez wrote in a column last week, immigrants should receive community service, or another punishment “that fits the crime.” "

No matter what they want to call it it is still rewarding bad behavior!

Punishment that fits the crime? How about DEPORTATION... you are here illegally and should be kicked out JUST FOR THAT REASON.

Sure she shouldn't be heading the "All Things Mexican" office? They, (Mexicans and Guatemalans) don't get a free pass to the front just because they can run across or are Latino. Pathetic.

How is this not racist? Why not treat every country equally? Why should Mexico get more visas? Because we have more Mexican illegals here than from any other country? Ridiculous.

Because la raza* are nothing more than a bunch of ingrates.

*I do not count those Hispanic people who are true blue Americans as 'la raza' in all fairness.

Now how racist is that? La Raza again proves what a bunch of race supremists they are.

I've never had to press 2 to get the language of Nigerians, most Nigerians I've met here are working and speak English, and I believe those who have prepared themselves to come here by bothering to learn our language should be given preference.
