For the third year in a row, the bill is being held up by a Senate Committee that for some reason seems loath to bring it to a vote, despite enormous public support for the bill, as evidenced by strong turnout for the hearing on May 14. The committee heard testimony from citizens outraged at the fiscal and socal strain illegal immigration imposes on their communities and also from advocates for illegal aliens who maintain that E-Verify, the screening system mandated by the bill, would cause discrimination in hiring.

The testimony that I found to be most compelling was submitted to the committee in writing, and later e-mailed to me by the writer, who had heard that I followed the issue. She wanted the committee to hear a story that is not often considered by our lawmakers — one to remind them that illegal immigration can harm citizens in ways more serious and personal than job losses and the cost of social services.

Here is her story, below. Ironically, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Michael J. McCaffrey, which is holding up this bill, represents Warwick, where this horrible incident occurred.

Texas Roadhouse, is owned by Willie Nelson. They are a very big employer of illegals in the state of Texas. All the cooks and dishwashers, buss help do not speak a lick of English, which is one of the main requirements for legal immigration.

One of the requirements for a Managers position, is bi-lingual ONLY.

The ramped up pandering to illegal aliens is what emboldens them to demand more unmerited/illegal privileges. The flip side to that is it is also representative of their enslavement. While they may be flattered and think that espanol is required because they are special or we are becoming a bilingual country, if they had any sense they would realize that the corporate masters are simply creating a way to keep them enslaved, co-dependent, illiterate and ignorant.

English is not just an American language, it is spoken universally. Not learning English simply limits their abilities to succeed independently or to go beyond the borders/boundaries of dishwashers, manual laborers, field hands and poverty. Which is exactly how the corporate masters want to keep them.

Well, so long as they don't speak English we will have an endless supply of cheap labor to exploit. In many cases the employer can screw them over and they are too afraid to try and do anything about it.

What a mess.

A mess indeed. That is exactly how the corporate masters intended it to be.

Not in California. The Labor Commissioner protects illegals the same as legal citizens when it comes to being mistreated by employers.

Damn right it's a mess.
