Note the crime index? 100 being the safest but Escondido comes in only at 15? Yeah, that's a city I want to live in.

Vista is like that too. There are areas with multi-million dollar hoods but on the inner older core it's barrio. To make a blanket statement it's a nice City would be wrong. Even morally wrong if someone moves in from out of town and rents a place soley from someone's advice that it was a nice City. Linda Vista, same thing. The Illegals have turned the inner core of these Cities into Barrios.

I've never seen it, and I lived in literally next to illegal immigrants back in Santa Barbara. I bet you've never seen it either...

According to Morgan Quinto Escondido is in the middle of the pack.

Wrong? But to tell people it's an outright Barrio (without presenting the truths of having a median income of that of the nation and crime that puts it squarely at the national average is right)? Wow, that's twisted and just flat out wrong.

Look, many cities have bad areas. However, overall that alone doesn't make it a "bad" city. The vast majority of Escondido and Vista are simply middle class tract homes...like the majority of SoCal.

I swear it's as if there is a segment of the population gripped with fear and hatred so much that logic and facts are simply not mentioned or even register to them.

Look at the stats in the link provided. 100 = safest cities. 15 = Escondido.

You are correct! I live only about a two hours drive from those areas and I can vouch for it. I often go to the San Diego area.

I DID look at the stats...and the stats showed it was squarely in the center according to Morgan Quinto. YOU look at the stats. BTW, really, neighborhood scouts?

Considering that in most things it matched the US average, I assume that it's due to the crime per sq. mile which is higher due to larger population living in a smaller area. So, the methodology leads to really a skewed result. Because the violent crime comparison is 5.06 Escondido and 4.72 national median. The property crime comparison is 42.61 Escondido vs. 32.3 nationally. What did it was the crime per sq. mile. This is skewed since Escondido, like most CA cities are denser than the national average.

Here it is right from the link itself.

CRIME INDEX
15
100 is safest
This city is safer than 15% of the cities in the US.
