It makes absolutely no difference, and neither does the fact that any person chooses to use one word over another. If you don't like it, go complain to the thesaurus people and maybe they'll start complaining to the dictionary people to start changing the definitions of the words to appease you, but meanwhile please quit creating a stir about it.
An illegal alien is an illegal alien, period. That is the legal term for them and your particular mood about it changes nothing.
Why don't you start calling bank robbers "unathorized withdrawers" or burglers "uninvited guests" or other such nonsense then?
Yeah, I mean nobody is stopping you from arguing about something that doesn't matter. Go ahead, knock yourself out.
The verbage is important--------what better way to rally the American people against unauthorized people here in the USA by calling them illegal aliens? I have no issue with with 'branding' lawbreakers as criminals.

We indeed have freedom of speech, we choose whatever we want to say in whatever language we choose, education has something to do with our choice of words, and Justice Sotomayor over-educated as she is you would expect elegant language, as she clearly does.....

SCJ's are held to a higher standard than you or I as well they should be. I wouldn't call using the incorrect word of "undocumented" to describe illegal aliens is being elegant on her part.
Anyone who calls an illegal alien and "undocument immigrant" is showing their lack of knowledge of the correct term and/or disrespect for the correct term.
How in the world can she or anyone else be "over educated"?
i think he is using the historical, east coast term for hispanics.
"Spanish" doesnt mean from spain, but rather those who speak/spoke spanish.
like spanish harlem, that wasnt spain spanish, it was spanish speaking harlem.
its a regional term. i think he is from that part of the country. its another interchangeable word.

I guess since the majority of U.S. citizens speak English, we are not Americans, we are British.
In any case, a Supreme Court Justice should be impartial. She certainly shouldn’t change legal terminology to benefit foreign invaders, the majority whom share her language or ethnicity. Should we applaud her for future decisions based solely on ethnic solidarity? What would you think of Clarence Thomas if he changed the terminology in his written decisions to benefit black criminals?
I expect the selection process to be based on qualifications, not race or ethnicity. Of course, an ethnocentric would think otherwise.
ill put my money on sotomayors knowledge over yours any day. shoot even mine!
she is on the bench after all.
again, this is much ado about nothing.

<<Undocumented is very descriptive and directly related to immigrant status.>>
Undocumented is not a very descriptive word for illegal aliens. Many of them have a plethora of documents, albeit in different names.
