Wait until the public reacts to this shamnesty bill.

Quote:
Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-TX) responded today to introduction of the Democrats' mass amnesty bill by saying:

"Our policies should put American workers, American taxpayers, and American citizens first, not those who are in the country illegally. This is the kind of legislation that foreign governments would promote, not the U.S. Congress.

Illegal immigrants currently occupy eight million jobs. Those stolen jobs rightfully belong to citizens and legal immigrants. We could cut the unemployment rate in half simply by enforcing immigration laws!

"The bill definitely will not pass because the American people oppose rewarding lawbreakers, which then encourages even more illegal immigration."

I liked what Hilton said:

"When the last American comes off of unemployment, then let's have a conversation about whether we need additional immigrants," Hilton said, adding that he hoped to qualify a California ballot initiative next year to deny several public services to illegal immigrants.

Really it's absurd that they are even talking about massive amnesty and immigration plans when unemployment of Americans is so sky high. They have done nothing to create jobs for Americans, yet want to bring hundreds of millions new foreigners into the USA?

Default Congressman Flake Disappointed by Gutierrez Immigration Bill

More reaction.

Quote:
“Having worked with Congressman Gutierrez on immigration reform legislation in the past, I know how committed he is to this issue,” said Flake. “However, this is a flawed bill. It repeats the mistakes of the ’86 reform – massive legalization without a temporary worker program to accommodate future labor demands.”

I’m also troubled by the weakened legalization requirements in the Gutierrez bill. The STRIVE Act included many penalties for illegal immigrants applying for legal status, such as a $2000 fine, a touchback provision, and other stringent requirements. Those standards have been watered down or removed in the Gutierrez bill.”
US Congressman Jeff Flake

This is precisely why this bill is doomed. There is absolutely no way to justify legalizing millions of foreigners to work in this country, while we have an estimated 18+ million unemployed citizens, many whom are losing their homes and livelihoods. Talk about backlash.

Comments from Rosanna Pulido, candidate for the Illinois 5th Congressional district.

Quote:
Pulido thinks this legislation is nothing short of insanity on the part of Congressman Gutierrez. Instead of lightening the tax load for millions of Americans he is piling on the debt of taxpayer funded college tuition's for people she believes he is counting on to build his political power base. According to Pulido, ‘Luis Gutierrez is a great example of how out of touch Congress is with the overburdened American taxpayers.’
