"I don't think that even Congressman Gutierrez expects his bill to pass," said Harry Pachon, president of the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute at the University of Southern California. "He's showing a willingness to fight. And he's putting pressure on the Obama administration to act."
Bill would give legal status to undocumented immigrants

Interesting. Apparently; Gutierrez's bill is so asinine that even some Hispanic advocacy groups are shaking their heads.

Hell: maybe if the Obama administration is pushed enough----------there will be no CIR

There was a pro-illegal on television here complaining that illegals would be expected to know a little English. He felt that was extremely unfair, they don't have time to learn the language of this country was his adamant point. He didn't like the $500 -- claiming they've already paid their dues.

Illegals will bring down any bill presented, no matter how goofy and lax it is.

Funny. The illegals seem to find up to 5 thousand dollars a head to pay coyote to try to smuggle 'em into the USA. Me thinketh that thou (illegal aliens) protesteth too much.

I believe it is by design. They don’t want amnesty. Why would they? The cheap labor industry would collapse. They are only going through the motions by feigning support for amnesty. It is simply part of their strategy to placate illegal workers and their sheeple supporters.

Gutierrez is pimping illegals and they don’t even realize it. He is also in the pockets of the corporate elite who profit from illegal immigration. However, to ensure continued support from Hispanics, he must champion this cause. They will vote for him, because they perceive him as being one of their leaders fighting for “immigrant” rights. It won’t matter if he fails at passing the bill, because he will be hailed for simply trying.

This bill is destined to fail.

I believe it is pimping the illegals for their votes and nothing more, certainly a bill like this in no way benefits the citizens and legal immigrants of this country, it's not meant to benefit us.

The illegals hope to get in on social security, Medicare and many other programs. The collapse of our economy makes them want citizenship all the more so they can get more food stamps, more housing assistance, unemployment checks. They'll be flooding over the border to get in on this amnesty because with it comes all kinds of government benefits.

$500? What a joke.

A joke indeed. They send more than that monthly to their countries of origin. It’s chump change. Talk about a slap in the face of citizens and legal immigrants.

I would have to disagree with you on that point. Will amnesty give Illegal Immigrants an education? will they stop mowing lawns, working in auto body shops, fast food joints, hotels, construction, agriculture, etc? I think not. The ONLY reason they are doing these jobs is their education level, literate at best. On average it takes 3-4 generations for Immigrants to assimilate into society. "Despite sixty years of political and legal battles to improve the education of Mexican Americans, they continue to have the lowest average education levels and the highest high school dropout rates among major ethnic and racial groups in the United States. … However, leading analysts, apparently believing in the universality of assimilation, argue that this is the result of a large first and second generation population still adjusting to American society. … These and other scholars predict that Mexican Americans will have the same levels of education and socioeconomic status as the dominant non-Hispanic white population by the fourth generation." Generations of Exclusion: Mexican Americans, Assimilation and Race; Telles and Ortiz, 2008. Studies like this are being taught in the CSU system in Sociology classes, it's not propaganda. so much for the collapse of the cheap labor market.
