I am curious to know what other opinions people have of this article.

I think the NY Times (and L.A. Times) spend way too much time romanticizing illegal aliens.

He was a victim as well as a law breaker himself. I agree, way too much drama in the times. I well say at least he assimilated as best he could vs the usual behavior of the Illegals showing up now.

I think this man and his fellow peddlers were definitely a "special case", and he seems grateful for the opportunities he was afforded unlike the ones angrily DEMANDING their "rights".

While I'm against illegal immigration, there are also some where a case can be made for a compassionate hearing and I think this was one of them due to the circumstances. (they were as stated in the article "different times" as well)
