While I certainly feel compassion for this woman, we are not the healthcare system for the world. My concern is for the citizens who must now forego treatment (and die) simply because the clinic was overburdened by illegals. We must help our own first.
Quote:
A decade after crossing illegally into the United States, Ms. Chavarria returned home in September after learning that Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta was closing the clinic that had provided her with dialysis, at taxpayer expense, for more than a year.
Grady, a struggling charity hospital, had been absorbing multimillion-dollar losses for years because the dialysis clinic primarily served illegal immigrants who were not eligible for government insurance programs.
Like other patients repatriated by Grady this fall, Ms. Chavarria gambled that her chances would be better at home. The costs of dialysis and a possible kidney transplant would be considerably lower in Mexico, and she had three siblings there willing to donate an organ.
But it has not worked out that way.

I'll share another story. While temporarily located in Dumas, Texas, my husband and I contracted what we knew to be Swine Flu. We called the local ER (a small facility) to be sure our insurance would be accepted. We were told by the front desk to not race to get there as the facility was completely full by immigrants of the "Mexican nature" who did not have legal papers and they (the hospital) were jammed with trying to get through all of the red tape and trying to see those who did not speak ENGLISH nor possess legal proof of citizenship.
At that time, unaware of this epidemic, I thought, awe...poor people, glad we can help. A clear cut example of "white guilt". Since learning it is nationwide, and to the degree of taking MY hard EARNED money, I am peeved.
We did not go to the hospital, that night.
It did get to the point the next day where we had to be seen. It was confirmed we did contract that strain but were told the treatment had run out and we were on our own in combating Swine Flu, they had run out the previous night.
So as I see it, if those who are here illegally had not received ALL the Tamiflu, there would have been enough available within the window of administration for US, PEOPLE PAYING ALL OF THE OUTRAGEOUS INSURANCE PREMIUMS, to have received it allowing us to not have gone through the discomfort and fear of dying. We still have lingering symptoms of the damage done by this flu which would have been prevented had illegals not gobbled it all up. The nurses there were very apologetic, but looking over their shoulders as they explained to us what happened.
WAKE UP AMERICA.

I am still struggling with the concept that according to illegals and their advocates that we some how owe them whatever they need.
Mexico has hospitals and health clinics. In Fact quite a few US citizens go there because you can buy prescription drugs cheaply and without a valid prescription.
This sort of counters the old excuse they can't get care at home.

It’s a dirty shame that citizens are suffering, while illegals receive treatment. How many citizens have died, or are currently dying, because our government refuses to enforce our immigration laws? Your experience is commonplace throughout this country. It’s a national disgrace.

I had this near same experience in 1986!! That's how long this Illegal Alien mess has been brewing. I thought my roommate was going to bleed out before we got him treated at the local ER. The line of Illegals was out the door and I didn't see a one with a worse wound or symptom than my buddy.

University Medical Center, Las Vegas, NV They spend $2 MILLION each month on 80 illegals who show up in the ER needing dialysis. The same 80 patients. President Obama has not told us how his "health care plan" will prevent them from continuing to do the same.

What should happen is that ICE should be called. Just as a hospital is required to call the police for certain other crimes. This is grand theft on a grand scale.
Hospitals should be required to call the police for people using false ID , no ID, or false SSN.
Would this be fair?
No ID or false ID?
Can not speak our language?
No Insurance?
SSN does not match name given?
Has not paid for previous service?
What if someone ate a resturant. Failed to pay or credit card is revoked?
Would that resturant be within their rights to call the police?
I know I know. Eating at a resturant and going to a hospital for health care are different issues. After all They need the health care to live.
Can't they go home and get that same care? After all we keep hearing That Mexico and such places actually do have good health care. Didn'tObama himself cite how Mexico and such places have a better health care system than we do?

First, I don't want to see pain on anyone, but isn't this an obvious example of how an illegal immigrant population in a certain area can destroy what once was a effective and healthy resource for legal residents and citizens? More proof. How are you just going to just let a bunch of people come in illegally and basically destroy a resource that was created for and needed by legal residents and citizens? Can you imagine the frustration (well, I kinda know that frustration in regards to medical care; where I am from, people don't want to go to the local health department anymore because it is always filled) of needing medical attention and being told that because there are dozens of illegal immigrants in front of you, you have to wait? I understand the emergency care requirement, but when it comes down to the fact that they should not have been here in the first place in those amounts, that's ridiculous.

Sure we’re paying for it. Moreover, countless hospitals nationwide have gone bankrupt due to illegal aliens. Yet, those who oppose are vilified.
